What's the best char to start a HC life?

Hi everyone...
I was wonder...what's the best char to start my HC time...
I never played HC...got 2 Sorc mat only, and don't know which char is the safer while having some good killing speed.

I am playing a Hybridzon (Karina, lvl 67) and she is kicking some MAJOR a$$. LF to every non-LI, when the stack of my titan's revenge is low or some annoying LI is in the screen, I switch to my buriza(till I get to lvl 73, Windforce Sweet Self found...) and strafe them to death(high CB, deadly strike and good level of CS). I think that she is a very safe char, as she only died 1 time last night to a bunch of LI that surrounded me(it was 4:30...almost sleeping in front the computer), but as I am only in act IV NM I don't know what's waiting me.

Well, that's it. Tnx anyway and see ya.

Personally, I reccommend playing a build you are familiar with and like from non-hardcore.

Your first couple of characters in HC will help you get some items to twink your later characters with.

The biggest 3 things to learn about HC are:
1) don't get killed.
2) don't get killed.
3) oh well, you got killed. oops. make a new character and try not to make the same mistake again.

Personally, I lost a promising sorc in the Catacombs when a Cold Enchancted boss exploded. I should have been able to survive. But I didn't drink a potion because I wanted to conserve my potion supply. Then he exploded and I was too low. Silly me. Now I always drink the extra potions, when in doubt...

In general, in Hardcore, I would reccommend you try to gain a few extra levels... for example: if you normally finish act 1 at level 12, try it at level 15 instead. The easiest way to do this is to use the /players X command; increasing to /players 8, I find I gain enough levels that I have more hps, more skills, etc, and I am much safer vs the bosses than a lower level character.

Good luck !

Hi,

Well for a first HC char, untwinked and safe, I will go with a fishymancer why?

-Safe char cose his summon kill ennemies
-Powerful char cose of the ultimate skill in players 1: CE (Corpse Explosion, really roxxx) (really powerful in hell)
-He can play very well untwinked
-He can do good mf
-He has 75% block (you really need it in HC)
-He s got not problem with the FE bug (he's not next to the monsters)
-you can do easily normal and nightmare in /players 8 (you can also do it in hell, but I not recommand, because you're killing speed will be very slow)(cose you're untwinked)
-That's all :D

Well here is the link for the fishymancer guide Fishymancer/skellymancer guide

Or you can go with nightfish's (again :D) HC barbarian guide Nightfish's HC barbarian guide

But I will suggest to go with the fishy, and last thing, don't rip and good luck :)

Man, I wish it were so, but no, the drop calcs are identical between HC and SC.

No. In fact, better items are actually More Rare in HC, because characters die off instead of staying level 99 forever.

The only thing he might mean is that an item thats "so-so" in softcore might be consdered a little better in HC, because it's harder to get.

Playing fishymancer is probably the best choice , but they are veeery boring to me.

So you want to start playing HC. Lets talk about options:

Fishymancer
This character is excellent because you have a moving, killing, wall in front of you, all the time. You have amazing crowd control with AI curses and your wall, not to mention a merc and clay golem (IMO, the only golem choice for a skelliemancer) you'll be fine. My fishy only died once during before he started MF'ing Baal, and that was when I wasn't paying attention in the Pit lvl 2.
This character is also amazing untwinked, although it does have problems with the arcane sanc and maggot lair.

Hammerdin
Two words: Magic Damage. Only one creature in the entire game is immune to you (wailing beasts in act 3 hell), and you can easily get your damage very high with little +skills. The bad part about this character is that you tend to be very close to monsters when you are killing. Unfortunately, you have no crowd control.

Met/Orb
Great damage, as FO kills everything not CI, and even then you have Met/Fireball as a back up, and you also have one of the best skills in the game to cover your butt in Teleport.

Lightning zon:
I am making one of these right now, and I am loving her. You only have to worry about LI's, and even then you can Jab them to death. Who said you need a bow? Also, with Decoy, Valkyrie (the best summon in the game) and your merc, along with slow missiles, you have excellent crowd control.

So, I hope that helps you make your choice,
