What's the attraction to Hardcore, anyway?
Ok - 2nd season ladder. I don't touch my 1st season ladder guys now that they are mixed with the general population. It just doesn't feel as "clean" and they are nowhere NEAR as wealthy as other people. It's almost like being in a minimum security, white-collar prison and suddenly being put in with a bunch of murderers and rapists.
I started a couple chars on HC this new season, after experimenting with a new (to me) build in SC. Now that I've played HC seriously for the first time this season, I find that I get the same feeling when I slide back into SC to play. It's not as "clean."
There are virtually NO pk's, dying due to lost connection or lag doesn't matter as much (well, at all, really...), I can level faster because I can get into higher ML areas no matter what my attack rating, and my characters gear isn't in danger of vanishing forever if I die... (in fact, when i hear about level 80ish characters getting PK'd, I think about what awesome gear that they must have lost on their MERC ALONE!!!!)
But I keep going back to HC. I love it!
It's not the adrenaline. It's not the "l33t"ist attitude. I can't put my finger on it.
I'm curious: Why does everyone here play HC in the first place?
