What's the attraction to Hardcore, anyway?

i would like to know why people play softcore -- 90% of SC players have little or no knowledge of how to make a character who can survive normal without a power act

all you really need to play hardcore is patience and a sense of humor -- two things that many SC players lack

a coward dies a thousand deaths -- a hardcore character only dies once

Hc

I play hc for 3 reasons.

1. Better friends in HC (Go Go Gat Europe....)
2. Insanity - has to be part of it.
3. SC is just soooooooo lame. I mean really, I die, I come back, I die, I come back.... Its just a waste of time.
(Unless your into collecting things I guess.......)

Gross exagerations like this do nothing for your credibility Nerf. If you actually PLAYED with some SC folks you'd see most of them are just as competent as HC players.

And SC players criticize HC because you're forced into a restricted number of 'safe' builds and forced to adopt a safe (some would say cowardly) play style.

HC and SC are both legitimate styles of play. You don't need to feel insecure about playing HC, and constantly snipe at SC to make your chosen style of play seem legitimate.

Think thats a bit unfair about sniping.......

You arent restricted with your builds, thats a personal choice people make.
Ive made all sorts of weird builds (weird for me) in the past.....
Surviving in HC is down to being careful and 2. Friends.....

I cant really comment on the competencies of SC/HC people. Although I can see why people make the generalisation for SC, as people can DIE and not really lose much (welll, xp I guess...)....

Both are playing styles, both are valid I guess........

Yeah, no doubt. Take one scary look into an sc game, or even in the other forums. Nuttin' but hammerdins and meteorb sorcs. Last season I asked a question about some stuff for my spearazon, and the zon forum wasn't exactly helpful...I think becuase there weren't that many that even ever thought about doing a spear/pike only zon...I was hesitant to tell them about my swordazon (who made it all the way to hell Tristram, pretty much solo- yay vineslicer2!)
