What's So Great About Rends?

I don't understand why Rends are so gg...

Huge Str req, 10% crushing, 30-60% edamage

But crafted blood gloves give life, 10%cb, and can spawn with ias, resists, etc etc and have a max of 106 str req.

Heck even upped bloodfists seem better. Fhr, life, ias...

So...someone explain why good rends are multiple organsets instead of being worthless...the off weapon edamage? That barely adds anything. BvB seem to love them tho...

It can't be the +str...since once you've got 185...anything more is useless.

It's probably because the rarity of rends:smiley: I'd take ow on draculs over the ed% anyday...

Rends = priceless for Zealots.

Rends also get used in leagues where LT from draculs is strickly off limits.

In zeal v zeal ow is not as effective as in BvB and the damage and defense on rends are very sweet. Most zealots have enough strength to equip these anyway. That said, their rarity skyrockets their price. I have found only one pair in my whole d2 days.

I see one zeal game per month. With 2 lonely zealers and a trapsin who crashed it.

Same thing with eth 3os tomb reav's.

and if a trapsin crashed a zvz game, that means anything goes no boundaries of bm/gm, and any zealer can easily sorb and charge/smite her.

Yeah, a trapper in zeal v zeal. I mean, a shifter or a barb dropping by for some fun is perfectly acceptable, but a trapper that enters having in mind to ruin the game can expect to be badly bm'd.

Damage oriented builds, I guess. Even for bvbs, regardless of the fact that dracs and crafted gloves give ow that offsets the ed. A lot of pubbies use damage as a yardstick to measure their character by. How many people have seen hdins gloating about their 17k hammers when 12-13k suffices, and gives you much more life and resists? Same with rends. Damage damage damage.

I root for Zealers, but they are not viable in standard pubs these days (or in non-zeal games)

The ones that are geared for melee duels perhaps, but the ones that are geared almost like smiters (and sport 5.5k smite with 1pt invested there) are another breed.

Faster 4fpa vs 6fpa, can deliver deadly strike and elemental damage. Now smite bypasses block and ignores defense, which normaly and rightfully makes it a better attack in pvp. But what if the block advantage of smite is taken away? You are left with the faster attack which is zeal, and that applies against claw block assassins (both zeal and smite blockable) and shieldless or very low block opponents. Zeal has its applications in pvp, especially when you can maintain a very high smite damage in a hybrid build.

Against pub Windies shift zeal works nicely, but against a good one it is near useless.

Good ones will face a smiter with a stormshield usually,and they will have max block anyway.
