If one got past my cats, I'd probably catch and release it. That is a far more plesant alternative to letting my cats break its back and play with it until it dies.

I was at a friend's house and his dog suddenly dropped a mouse before us, it was half teared open, but still alive, although it couldn't run anymore.
So the only humane thing left to do was find a hammer and bash the little thing out of it's misery.
Unfortunately we couldn't find a hammer, and the mouse was still suffering, so I picked up two bricks, lay the mouse on one, and mashed the other brick on top of it very fast and very hard.
The mouse died instantly (good thing) and we threw it in the grassland of the neighbours :evil:

I'd kill it of course. I have no problem killing things that far outweigh my own species' population in my given area. Those things multiply way too damn fast to keep around in an urban setting. The same goes with roaches and spiders. I'd kill pigeons too, if it was legal. Those things are more disgusting and disease ridden than any mouse.

If I cornered it I would have to catch and release it otherwise i'd feel bad for killing it for two weeks or so.
That said, when you throw mice outside, they generally find their way back inside. Nowadays I have a couple of those plastic traps in my house because im sick of catching and removing the same mice over and over again. I also feel less guilty about trapping them for some reason.
This one time, Michael came home from work and was removing his workboots when a mouse shot out from the pile of shoes and ran across the floor. He got a surprise and flung his shoe at it - not intending to actually squish it. Anywho he's a better shot than he realised, the shoe landed clear on the mouse and murderised it. He felt SO bad for the rest of the day.
The look on his face when he realised the shoe actually landed on the mouse was bloody hilarious.

When I was in a tent camp at the age of 11 or so, I trapped a mouse under a blanket, so I took my pocket knife, removed the blanket and stabbed the mouse to death. I guess that's enough of a qualification for hardcore.

The executive decision on the mouse issue would have been decided prior to my arrival on the scene. In some cases I get clean up duty. Apparently I got that duty with this old thread too...
