Re: What would you die for?
i'm not afraid of death, but i am of dying, even if it's extremely short pain-suffering that only lasts a nanosecond (way less than a second).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
i thought about this for a bit and came to a new theory:
males have values, morals, or concepts important to them. more important than anything else. that's why males fight, are agressive, and are violent.
if u think, u fight for a reason. that reason is so important that you're willing to use force and violence, even at the risk of your own death (ultimate sacrifice). u fight for things or concepts u believe in which are values or morals.
what if males didn't have any values or morals, would we still be agressive, violent, and get into fights ?
if all notions of values and morals were removed, would there be any agression, violence, fighting, and wars ?
for example, if americans (the U.S.) didn't believe in freedom, liberty, and human rights would we be in the middle east "trying to help" them ?
OR
for example, if americans (the U.S.) didn't care about their own selves and their own interests (selfishness is also a value and moral. "the right to live or preservation"), would we be in the middle east for oil ?

as to how i would act or behave,
**this is all speculation, since i'm not actually confronted by being in the situation and have no idea how i would really act or behave. as trashx posted so astutely**
if i was a cop, i'd NEVER touch/use a gun. i'd never kill or harm anyone. this is because (to me) a cop is suppose to protect the people. NOT protect himself and definately not to destroy the people they are suppose to protect.
as a soldier, i'd be a 100% obediant. even if it was hitler, and he said to kill 5 million jews, i'd do it. to me, a soldier's job is to kill so that the war is won. your superiors probably know whats needed more than u do. that's why u obey them unconditionally. your job as a soldier is to do as u are told. to kill who u are told to kill. you're a soldier and your job is to kill your way to victory in a war. it's war and you're a soldier.
even if you're found guilty of genocide and war atrocities, i'd still obey and do what i'm told. even if it's as wrong as the holocaust. do what u want to me afterwards, but as a soldier it's my job to kill who my superiors tell me to, even if it's a war crime or atrocity. as a soldier my duty is to our victory, it's a soldier's job to obey and kill, not to think and challenge your superiors' decisions, resulting in defeat in war and having all the people you were fighting or soldiering for in your country die to the enemy that won the war against u.
i know that the holocaust was/is dead wrong, but as a soldier, it's my understanding that u are to obey. as a soldier, your job is to kill and die yourself, so that the rest of the people of your country are to live.
this does NOT excuss u, of course.
but what's the difference: u die from/in war or u die afterwards, from having being convicted of war crimes or atrocities and sentenced to death.
as a soldier, u give give your life in the battlefield or commit atrocities and give your life to the death sentence issued on u afterwards, without hesitation, since it protects and keeps my country and people and the ones i love safe. in fact, that's the purpose and job of a soldier. to sacrifice yourself and to kill the enemy so that your poeple, your country, and the ones u love stay safe and protected.
as a soldier, you are sacrificing your life and/or your humanity, having to murder people or doing other crimes and wrongs, so that the rest of your country and its/your people are saved and protected.
war is mass murder. a soldier is a murderer. a professional murderer. war and soldiers and superiors are crimes and criminals. the only reason, soldiers and superiors and war are NOT punished (unless they violate the "rules" of war and commit a "war crime") is because it has come down to "u" or "them". do u and your country/people die or do they and those people/country die. that's war and that's why it's (war's) not considered a crime. it's "u" or "them". it's "your country" or "their country". it's "your people" or "their people".
