What to socket barb's Widowmaker with....

Is it better to socket a widow with Um, Shael or Hel? :undecided:
I rely on the 30 stat boost from botd for bva blocking. So if/when i want to equip widowmaker, I come up a little shy on dex. I was thinking of -15 req/dmg jewel or hel to solve my problem. BUT is it worth pumping dex somemore and socket um instead. Or with shael I think i can hit 11fpa.

most use a hel rune well bvcs have to in order to use it Um would be nice but if u have to pump alot of dex then no.

I have got to put a -req jewel in it. I think i have one w/ 26%ed.
146 is just way too high for dex, i'm fine w/ stormshld and botd, but soon as it comes off, I drop to 130 dex (w/ angelics ring/ammy and 20 raven). I can't imagine pumpin 16 more into dex for the openwounds or kb on the bow. Although, someone might tell me the 25%ow from um is worth it.

I guess it'd depend on how much dex you have currently. If your dex is too low, then I wouldn't be bothered to pump dex just to use the bow and have more OW..

you won't be needing the ar from dual angelics when using the bow so replace the angelic amu for a cats eye and bingo, 25 dex and 20 ias. switch out the ring for another raven for some extra dex if needed.

A Cat's Eye is one of the worst amulets to use on a Barbarian. Highlord's or Angelics are used to power up your _Grief+Beast_ switch, which is the one that _deals_the_damage_, whereas the _Widowmaker_ _makes_your_opponents_offensive_and_triggers_OW_and_Lifetap_.

Dual angelics will allow you to have 18k-ish AR without enchant on your Grief+Beast switch, very useful versus hammerdins.

Use Widowmaker on switch versus defensive hammerdins, and you will be impressed. It gets all the campers and defensive tardies on the move. Also, remember to use Fortitude or Duress.

Ce Olba, what's ur perspective on dmg vs. speed? Would it be better to put an ed or ias jewel in it. From what i'm hearing it's more of an instigater (w/ a little ow), than a source of dmg so more ias would make the most sense. Currently i do 850 dmg w/ it (can that be right?). W/ an ias jewel i can get 13 frames (down from 14fpa).

Well, actually, the socket depends from your stats. If you already have enough dexterity for 146, socket it with Um or Ed/Ias jewel. Here it comes down to personal preferance. Myself, as my barb's a BvC, I use a Hel to lower the requirements. Hel = -20% Requirements on Weapons. And yes, that 850 dmg is correct, but it's on the LCS, right? Really it's quite a bit smaller (in PvP dmg that is), as low as 144.5 per arrow to someone with zero DR%.

The IAS jewel can be very good, as IIRC, it let's you hit the ias breakpoint with Arreat's + Angelics.

An Ed/IAS jewel, is practically useless on a Widowmaker, as a Widowmaker is mainly used to deal OW. Myself I'd choose Um over anything if I had the dexterity.

hi there u could also try swaping out your gloves for ik gloves = 20 dex + str.

Dont do that rofl. Draculs = OW (which is one of THE things a widowmaker is used for) and lifetap, while IK gloves simply suck and they dont have anything useful besides str and dex boost (keep in mind that dracs boost str too)

That isn't a bad suggestion, but the point of using the bow is to cause open wounds, which IK gloves doesn't support.

On a BvC you sohuld hel it; BvAs should have enough dex to Um it
