What to make?

Hi Folks,

I recently found a 15%ed scarab husk (546 def). Should i 3 or 4 soc it? In addition i have a few runes lying around that are likely dupes so i want to either trade these or socket them. If i socket the armour should i make this a coh, fort or nigma? In addition, i got a 4 soc cv in my stash and could also make an infinity with the spare runes (i wish to find a eth cv or eth ca though ).

btw. I alrdy have ap coh, nigmas, infinitity (non-eth cv :sad2: ), ap forts..so anything i make will be for trading probably. (ladder reset et all).

Tx!

if you waiting to trade after ladder resets then my vote would go for fort

The only choice you have is 4 sockets, since that's what Larzuk is going to give you. :wink3:
The cube recipe does not work with superior armors.

Ah...this is different. If i socket this in NM it gets 3 by Larzuk, if it's in Hell it gets the he puts the full 4 :prop:

Incorrect. Larzuk will always put max sockets in an item, regardless of difficulty.
So he'll put 4 sockets in your armor whether you use the quest in Hell, NM, or Normal. :wink3:

Clear one thing up for me. Did you *find* the armor in Nightmare? Or are just planning to use the Larzuk quest in Nightmare?

i found in hell, my thinking is that if i use the larzuk quest it would put 3 socs, if i use larzuk in hell it'll put 4 socs:soapbox:

Aha!
You found it in Hell, which means it will get 4 sockets at Larzuk.

Dii.net is wrong regarding this.

Altana is correct in this. Fort is a good choice though for that armor if you have the runes. Or you might try trading it for something you want more.

http://www.diabloii.net/items/armor/armor-elite.shtml#Scarab Husk
:prop:
And at the bottom of that page it says...

The socketing quest can add more or less than the maximum per difficulty level, it's very erratic.
...which is actually still wrong (the less part) at least with elite armors since Larzuk sockets on ilvl, and the ilvl of any elite armor you're gonna find is more than high enough for the full four sockets.
However, had you bothered to read it, this information would still have pointed out that your idea won't work. Complete information=good. Partial information=an accident waiting to happen. Read everything.

Larzuk will give max sockets (according to ilvl) to white items. He'll give magical items either 1 or 2 sockets. For rares/sets/uniques, he gives 1 socket.
