What to do with a Jah rune

Jah Rune
Can be Inserted into Socketed Items

Weapons: Ignore Target Defense
Helms: Increase Maximum Life 5%
Armor: Increase Maximum Life 5%
Shields: +50 to Life

Required Level: 65
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion

Thats right i just found a Jah rune :D
Found it in the Ancient Tunnels off an embalmed unique. it was a damn lucky find too, if i hadn't of missed my bus this morning i wouldnt of been running.

So the question is what to do with it?

I could make a runeword out of it but the only 3 runewords containing jah are
Fury - I could make this
Enigma - i still need a Ber
Famine - need an Ohm

or of course i could save it for something completely different. like socketing into a cracked sash ;)

what would you guys do with it?

The only thing a Jah should ever be used for is Enigma. I really don't see a debate in this.

Yeah... Enigma really is the only thing that a Jah is really worth to be used in. Unless you have a .08 Visceraunt then you could put in there but other than that.

Just hold on to it. Keep it in your stash and even when you get that ber think about it. Personally I think enigma is -10% style..

Guess a counterpoint is in order then. ;)

Sure Enigma is a cool word, but corax, how long have you been playing the game and finally found this nice rune? How much longer do you expect it will take to get a Ber? Another 6-9 months maybe? I say use the thing while you are still interested in playing this ol' game.

I vote Fury.

Eh, and what makes a 1.08 Visceraunt worth a Jah?

Good luck with the Ber though.
I don't know why it deserves a jah but not a bad shield either.

1.08 Visceratuant: +2 To All Necromancer Skills, +80 Life, 30% Faster Blocking, +25% Chance to Block, +80% Enhanced Defense.

I would have to vote with the majority here and go with the Enigma. If you spend it on a Fury weapon, you will regret it when you find that Ber. :D

Agreed with AE. Jah is a weird rune, virtually worthless on its own but owning in some impossible, godly runewords. The chances of you finding Ohm < the chances of me ever getting a guardian. Sad but true.

If you had an Ohm though, I'd vote Famine. FOOJ for thought, that's all.

Here's another good idea, if you're obsessed (as I am) with irking rune fanatics...
Mechanic's Bone Wand of Piercing ;)

Enigma, because it is usefull by almost all chars, even though it may take you an eternity to find the Ber :). If you really like melee chars, Famine would be cool too I guess.

I see that you're unfamiliar with sam's patented way of obtaining rare items:

"gib ber str00j!!!11!1" or "gib 'nigma mil!!!111!oneone" :D

Seriously though, I think Jah would be wasted in a Fury weapon. Here are the stats on Fury...

+209% Enhanced Damage
40% Increased Attack Speed
Prevent Monster Heal
66% Chance Of Open Wounds
33% Chance Of Deadly Strike
Ignores Target Defense
-25% Target Defense
+20% Attack Rating
6% Life Stolen Per Hit
+5 To Frenzy (Barbarian Only)

Now is that really that much better than

Death Cleaver
Berserker Axe
One-Hand Damage: 86 to 255
Durability: 26 of 26
Required Dexterity: 59
Required Strength: 138
Required Level: 70
Axe Class - Very Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 85
Fingerprint: 0x343c6684
+260% Enhanced Damage
+9 Life after each Kill
40% Increased Attack Speed
-33% Target Defense
66% Deadly Strike

or even

Razor's Edge
Tomahawk
One-Hand Damage: 104 to 183
Durability: 23 of 28
Required Dexterity: 67
Required Strength: 125
Required Level: 67
Axe Class - Very Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 86
Fingerprint: 0x50c31975
+216% Enhanced Damage
40% Increased Attack Speed
-33% Target Defense
50% Chance of Open Wounds
50% Deadly Strike

?

My point is that Fury isn't even the best weapon out there; it's trumped by weapons that are far easier to obtain. Anything that requires a Jah rune damn well better be godly, and Fury isn't. If I find a Jah rune tonight, you can bet that tomorrow I'll be putting all my best items up for trade in order to get a Ber.

Edit: Same argument goes for Famine, both Azurewrath and Gimmershreds are comparable and are far more common. And I ask of anyone who might advocate intentionally wasting the rune: if you found a Stormlash, would you sell it to a vendor without buying it back?

Ha! Forget the obvious options. I'd wait for the next patch and do one of these:

Last Wish

6 Socket Swords/Hammers/Axes

Jah + Mal + Jah + Sur + Jah + Ber

6% Chance To Cast Level 11 Fade When Struck
10% Chance To Cast Level 18 Life Tap On Striking
20% Chance To Cast Level 20 Charged Bolt On Attack
Level 17 Might Aura When Equipped
+330-375% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Ignore Target's Defense
60-70% Chance of Crushing Blow (varies)
Prevent Monster Heal
Hit Blinds Target
0.5 (per level)% Chance of Getting Magic Items (Based on Character Level)

Two more Jahs, Ber, Mal and Sur to go Corax.

I guess we'll entertain this thread again in about ... oh, 7 years when you find all those runes and/or cube them.

Honestly though, i'd fire up a Vigor-Pally with max Holy Shield and just do p8 Lower Kurast runs for a month or two or three ... and find that Ber and make Enigma. That's what i'd do.

well to be honest i dont find enigma that appealing. and if i found a ber it'd go to CoH first, so it'd be 2 bers before enigma.

Same arguement for famine, an Ohm might go to Exile first, depending on if i had a good shield available.

Fury is pretty cool IMO and could make for a good combo with death cleaver on a frenzy barb.

I don't know why CoH is so popular, the two main mods of consequence are +2 to all skills and +65 resist all.

Now if I take a perfect vipermagi and Um it I get +1 to all skills, +50 resist all, and +30% FCR. The CoH is still better, but the rest of the mods can be made up for via charms or other gear. IMO Enigma is ten times the armor that CoH is; the only thing that CoH has on Enigma is the resists, and those can be found elsewhere.

I predict he'll find the Ber two hours after he makes the Fury.

Because there are still those of us who play PvM melee. :D

+20 to Strength
+70% Enhanced Defense
Damage Reduced by 8%
All Resistances +65
8% Life stolen per hit
Replenish Life +7
25% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
200% Damage to Demons
100% Damage to Undead
+2 to All Skill Levels
Socketed (4: 4 used)

Every bit of those mods are useful to melee, you can't argue with that.

I think it is kind of lame to have every character with teleport, takes something out of the game for me. I would definitly go fury, but I am a barb freak. You can socket it into any # of weapons too, and it is better than those other uniques, if your using frenzy that is lol.

My 1.09 frenzier used a Fury Balrog Blade and LOVED it! I had actually forgotten that I had that until just now... its sitting gathering dust in my old 1.09 stash. That plus a DC would make an uber pwnage frenzy barb for sure. Especially with the synergies in 1.10, it will let you invest more points in synergies to frenzy than actually into frenzy.

I say go for Fury.
