What to do? (fishy question)

Gloves: 3% ml, 2 str, 9 sta, 17 cr, 16 lr, 25% mf
belt: 17% fhr, 27% lr (other useless mods)
Only gloves and belt appear to add to your survivability. Everything else is plain mf, I will discourage you from using mf right now. You will get far better items in pits once you're level 80-85+ because you can run the pits a lot faster.

If you don't have or can't buy resistance items, just find socketed stuff and insert runes for great resists. You could buy a Lum rune for like 20pgems I guess, and make smoke armor as suggested in another post = 50 resist all! If you get a +3 skeleton mastery shrunken head (white), get it socketed and make splendor runeword (+1 skills with other mods including mf).

So as I said before, wear gear with lots of resists and life right now. Level up a bit, ideally up to 80-85+. And then wear your mf gear and start hunting!

Should I go for the aforementionned Homunculus+pDiamond and a 3-4 os armor and stick all pdiamonds in?
Yes to PDiamond in Homunculus.

No to PDiamonds in Armor. (IIRC Diamonds in armor = AR, not resists)

Use Ral/Tal/Ort/Thul, or jewels, for resists in armor.

Ugh. I have -45% in hell, with the +30% from anya quests and 25% from a RHYME necro shield (found offa gris on normal). What kills me in hell? Invisible charge bolts, from lightning elementals.

My spec is:
20 mastery
20 skelly
20 bone wall
20 bone prison
1 bone armor/teeth/corpse/bone spear
1 golem/mastery/summon resist
1 amp/dim vision

Why into wall/prison? The synergies make my lvl 1 bone armor absorb 620 damage with no +skill items and cost 11 mana. Also, you cannot be 'stunned' when your hit by a melee attack when bone armor is up.

As for your first purchase: Goldwrap, Tarnhelm, gull dagger (all cost p gems)
And go farm nightmare cows to get your 4 socket armor, and ptopaz it.
You'd better be wearing that rhyme shield!

There ya go. Any more questions?

Well I'm going to purchase the homunculus first as it seems it would improve speed and survivavibility and socket it with pdiamond, I think I can afford it with my current currencies.

Now, onto my new question (lol), I just found a lightning facet, I think it's worth a fair bit (correct me if I'm wrong), what can I get for it that I would want?

Thanks for all the help so far guys, it's spinning in my mind: RESIST RESIST SKILLS RESIST

EG!

@LastZodiac: I'll admit that I tend to err toward caution as far as resists go, which is probably my HC orientation showing through.

For any MFer, one expects resists to be significantly lower. My MFer runs with ~0% average resists. And I guess the difference between HC and SC would make ~-50% average resists just "annoying" instead of "positively suicidal".

its 3/4 so not that great.

I'm running pits atm with 24/24 and it's going pretty good, I can clear it most atempts, somehow sometimes a bad spawn can wreck my run, but it's definitely smoother. I also replaced the 16mf ring by a 14 resist all!

One piece of advice for gathering wealth in pit runs - you don't really need much mf. Many white and grey drops can be worth much more than uniques. Don't ignore them.

I look at them, but I'm not sure what's worth something yet. I look out for elite with max sockets mostly.. and maybe wands with like +3 a tree and +3 into something into that tree... anything else?

look for ethereal elite armors with no sockets (these can be eth glitched by adding sockets with the cube), elite paladin shields with high ([email protected]) resists, elite ethereal pally shields (with 0 or 4 sox) .. there's a pile more that i'm not thinking of, but those items are worth something as well.

Well a little update:

I bought my homunculus, it seems to help a ton, even though i traded my last pdiamond for it! So I will socket it when I get another one.

Now, I seem to have made good finds today:
- 1 warcry 5 str gc
- ohm rune
and aforementioned jewel...

This is my current plan:
Buy a shako
Gamble/buy pgems for a +3 summoning skills amulet
Armor with 4x Ptopaz
Torch when I get more pgems I guess

Any good rings/gloves/boots I can aim toward?

Any comment on this?

And I'm lvl 69, I maxed CE and got 1 point in most goody stuff

Luck is smiling down on me, I got a +3 summoning skill amulet for 63000 gold from gambling!
I swear I've spent over 10,000,000 gold gambling on ammys, specifically looking for that +3 Nerco Summon one, but I've never gotten it. :sad2: Plenty of other +3 ammys (including three +3 Druid Summon ammys) though.

Maybe I'll hit like I did with 4os Polearms: Nothing at all for three months, and then 7 of them in 2 days (4 of them in one run).

Anyway, congrats on the finds/trades/purchases. Here's hoping some of that luck will find its way over here.

Two more questions:

First, I have 7 skill points unused and I don't see anything that would be remotely useful.. What do you guys suggest? I also have 27 more points until 99... so I don't know where to put them!

Secondly, my might merc is now lvl 75 and he's pretty strong, but his gear is far from marvelous:
-Duskdeep
-Boneflesh
-The Meat Scrapper

Are there any cheap upgrades I can get him?

After 6 Fishys, I finally settled on maxing DV, and then putting the rest into Bone Wall for the Bone Armor synergy. But then I'm basically a coward so I tend to concentrate on defensive skills. :prop:

I've never gone into the other Bone or Poison skills, but I'm sure others who have can tell you some things about those.

You're not a coward. Your best offensive skills are 1. Raise Skeleton, 2. Skeletal Mastery, and 3. Corpse Explosion. I'm sure you maxed them out. Now all you need is to prepare defenses, just like a true warrior. It's not cowardly at all.

Regarding original question by Everglows: Where to put points now? After finishing your build, you should ask yourself what are you going to do with your Fishy. If you intend to do a lot of Baal runs, you should max dim vision to control the lightning gloams. If you will do keyhunting and pitting, you should max your bone wall / prison for synergies into bone armor.

Some people pump their golems, summon resists, and even amp, but personally I don't think they will be that much useful as enhancing dim vision or bone wall / prison.

Everglows - Anilrobo and MasterMynd give good advice re: DV. it's very useful against any ranged attacker. if you don't like dying, put some points into DV.

aside from the obvious RS, SM, CE, i've distributed my points to suit my style of play. i do some baal runs, some ubering, some mfing.

i put some into DV to widen the radius and increase the duration for WSK, 1 or 2 into terror for ubering, some more into Amp for general mfing (less time spent amping = more time spent casting CE) and a fair number into Raise Mage, again for ubering - mainly raising poison mages to stop uber health regen.

so long as you have the basic build covered, the beauty of this character is there is lots of room to customize based on your style of play.

if you don't plan on ubering, and you're a defensive type of player, more DV is always better. good for WSK, good for tower and pits, good for bloody foothills.. anywhere there's ranged attackers.
