What sort of scams have you been the victim of/seen?

Similar to my recent poll, I've made a new thread. I'm just wondering what sort of scams and tricks you people have seen or have had done to you lately.

there's a whole list on the front page if you click on bug reports.

the most common one is the dagger for gull switcheroo.

I know scamming a person out of items is lame. But why on earth would you scam someone for a Gull?? Next thing you know they're gonna scam peeps for 1 pgem

i dunno why it's so common. the only reason i can think of is that gull is an item that lowbies have and high lvls want.

Don't forget Shaftstop as an ordinary Chain Mail or Mesh Armor. This happened to me many times, especially in 1.09. Never falled for it though. It's damn fun to see how they react when you blow their scam. Most people just leave instantly. Some call you names :D

Tal armor for pul! That was a long time ago, kinda a good deal since on west ladder it was mal (3puls). I joined, and that guy was wearing full tals, and I thought, mm.. he has an extra? I asked, and he said he didn't want his sorc anymore, so trading away all the stuff. Oh well I put pul he put armor, he doesn't have space, went to stash, put a purple armor(rattlecage). I laughed at him, and he told me to shut up blah blah flame me in the trade window. Then i exited the trade window and told everyone in the game, one n00b didn't believe me and fell for it. ha!

That 'noob' was in the danger of trust. You were the first to give your version of the story. If he didn't pull it off again, people would be confused that either the person is an actual scammer, or the warner is just someone who wants to mess up that persons trades. Luckily, most peeps tend to play it safe and listen to the warner (even if it's a joker to mess up trades, this is the way no one loses any real things, the only possible harm is a cancellation of a possible trade)

The switching trick has to be the most common, it's so easy.
It's the only scam I've had to witness, twice.
Fell for it the first time but lost only a bk sword.
The 2nd time someone tried it with a shako/cap with an amethyst.

I haven't tried trading in public games much anymore simply because of this forum.
Once you get the hang of it how trading works here (no bumping/offering elsewhere etc), it's the best way to do it, imo.

    Cheers.
