    What Merc for a Trapassassin?

Hi there, I was wondering what Merc I should start up for a Trapassassin?

I have been thinking about a Cold merc (ACT 3) or Holy Merc (NM ACT 2)

Now, if I go for the cold merc, what gear do you guys suggest for him, and will he be strong enough (provided he has top of the notch gear) to atleast do some sort of damage to hell cows in 8 player games (or whatever)

What I really need to know is if he will be a waste of time to lvl up? In comparsion to a Holy merc, which I beleive is much stronger. Will the cold damage provided from the cold merc be of any use at all (ie is it high enough to be even near a holy merc equipped with a ghost spear + enigma/shaft armour) ?

If so, what gear do I need for the Cold merc?

Hopefully someone out there with merc knowledge will give me a hint in what direction I should go.

    Thanks in advance.

I played with all kinds of mercs..and they all work in a way.
My kicker/traps hybrid uses HF merc who slows monsters nicely.
On my javazons I use act3 icemercs with fast cast equipment..so they complement my physical damage dealing Valk and my elemental attack.

I suggest you get the HF merc and see how you like him...in act 3 hell you can still buy a new high level merc later..and dont worry about levelling him.

If you are really rich and just want to over-do it, then you could go for a prayer or defiance act2 merc and equip him with a doom and really do some damage. :)

That sounds cool :) What is the name of it called? (When you hire it in NM ACT2)

Also what kind of armour do you suggest + helmet?

Leech is always helpful. I'd go for Tal's Horadric Crest/Crown of Theives and Griswold's Heart(possibly Duriel's Shell for the CBF).

Personally, I would use an act one fire bow merc. They are great for support, and trappers really don't need much for auras usually. They are great if you use DF as well.

I use to use an act 3 cold merc for my trapsin. It keeps thing pretty quite nearby, but isnt well suited if you are using Death Sentry (no Corpses). But if you are not using DS then it works quite well.
