what kind of Necro for Trang-Oul's set

I just got the last piece of this set in Usama's giveaway. I was thinking of putting it on my Fishymancer when he reaches high enough level, but that would mean giving up his current MF gear which I don't want to do. I was thinking about starting a daggermancer but it seems he would need lots of CB/DS/OW/PMH equipment which would preclude using the full Trang-Oul's set.

so what kind of necro would best be served by this set? A Golemancer? A boner? the mythical Mojomancer? I just wanna see a viable necro-vampire :)

If I make one for my Trang-Oul's, it'll be a poisonmancer (maxing the three poison skills). I'll be spamming Poison Nova like mad. Probably also a point in lower resist, revive, bone armor and max bone prison or wall with some CE to finish it off. The +poison skill damage is pretty wonderful.

It's a jack-of-all-trade kind of set. Okay for a lot of builds, but excel at nothing. If you have a huge stash, there are always a combination of unique/rares much better for any build.

I tried it in beta and was greatly disappointed by the slow cast rate/hit recovery rate (a bug when you transform into vampire form, acknolodged by blizzard). With the set, you might as well forget about fcr and fhr, you'll cast so slow and a couple of quilled rats can lock you in hit recovery.

edit damn it wild got me again.

a posion mancer would love this. +25% posion dmg, -25% enemy poison res, a total of +5 to posion and bone skills (+3 to all and +2 to tree), FCR and alot of posion and fire res in particular.

erm, not sure, but I heard that FCR doesn't work with full trang's, right?
(It could have been block, not sure)

Faster Hit Recovery and Faster Cast Rate does work with Trang Oul's (completed) Avatar.

It is just that little detail that you will be using the Vampire animations. And Vampire cast and hit recovery animations are naturally sloooow.

That said the optimal build for a Trangster is a skellie/poison hybrid. With some skellies to take the heat off you you are less prone to be stuck in Hit recovery and the armor does give a pretty +2 to the Summon tree.

The Claws and Wing bonii just yells Poison at you.

Yeah, and remember to dump a few Meteors on your opposition.

Of course, with a poison necro, you won't need a lot of FCR anyway. It takes 2 seconds for the nova to do its thing.

If you want to make a poison necro, defintely put at least one point (probably more) into lower resist. It lowers poison resists and removes immune from most characters.

I have a poison necro (my first 1.10 char) and he's decently fun. With the AI curses and bone prison/walls, he can basically take on any situation, but it can be pretty slow. I've currently only found Trang's armor, so I can't comment on how it will be with a full set, but having a nova that does around 3k damage can be a bit slow. He can do pits at /players 8 but it's mostly just: poison to stop regen until rogue merc kills something then CE away.

However with the minus enemy poison resistance, the boost to damage should be huge.

Right now I'm MFing with my sorc in hopes of finding more pieces of this set (esp the gloves!).. I could probably pat my necro right now, but.. it'll be so much easier with some Trangs, so I'm waiting. :)

The gloves are pretty common, someone should be able to hook you up with a pair, I'm pretty sure I've got a spare somewhere (assuming I didn't sell them  ). Unless of course you would rather find them. Come to think of it I've even gambled a pair.

My Trang-Oul's necromancer is a Bonemancer, with no skeletons. Of course, he was built in 1.09, before the Vampire transformation and the incredibly slow cast rate that came along with it. It's really a great set, and I imagine you could use it to better effect with all of the synergies in 1.10. Bone Spirit was my main skill, with Corpse Explosion as the crowd control device, and I used a Fire Golem and an Act I Fire merc.

If Blizzard ever fix the FCR bug then this set will be worthy of use, but as it is now I think a combination of uniques if far better for any Necromancer (except maybe Skellimancers, but they're cheese anyway ;))

Thanks for the offer! I haven't done any trading yet, and I'm enjoying MFing at the moment, so I think I'll persist on my own for a while still. But if I get frustrated with it, I may come knockin on your door. :)

I use full trangs on my 1.10 lord of mages, and the gloves, belt, helm on my poison necro. Its a nice set, but for most necro build their are better items.
