what kind of barb better?

ive been playing a hammerdin lately and want to make a new barb. was wondering what is better for ww. ive tried freny and it is too tiringon my fingers. so what is a good pvm ww barb?

botd cb + shield
botd zerk and beast
botd zek +shield
botd two handed polearm/ spear weapon

merc will be might merc with doom.

dont have all above stuff but can eventually get. rest of gear will be nigma, dracs(no rends), verdungo, etc. the standard more or less.

which selection is better taking into acct dam and def?

Well,If you want high damage go with S+S way.BUT if you want really good damage and have runes to spare,go with BoTD eth thunder maul or settle for Ik maul,a beast zerk isn't too bad,but I'm no barbarian expert.

botd thunder maul doesn't hit the last ww bp, so it gets demoted to single-target dod use (which is only really done in pvp).

Since it's not so vital in pvm to go with a shield, you can go either botd great poleaxe or dual wield botd zerker and beast zerker. Those are the best no-shield weapon choices. If you want to go with a shield, then just switch out beast for ss.

The polearm will give the best single-hit dmg, but dual-wielding gives more hits and more chances to trigger ds/cs and cb. Obviously the shield route is the safest and can be played the most haphazardly.

If this is pvm i think that ebotd and beast is best. After playing you will realize that you leech so much that you will never die. Only thing that hurts you is im.

i have only found 1 of these but that was way b4 i knew anything, so i sold it. lol.

that is true a sword does look better. its big and long, lol. the zerk looks so terrible.

400% botd champion axe dmg;440-705:avg 573 (range3)
400% botd ghost spear dmg;135-1160:avg 648 (range5)
400% botd giant thresher dmg;300-855:avg 578 (range5)
400% botd great poleaxe dmg;345-950:avg 648 (range5)
400% botd 2h collosus blade dmg;435-860:avg 648(range3)

I guess...very few people know this:but 2handed botd collossus blade is the highest dmg lwbp weapon alongwith botd ghost spear & great poleaxe.Time to check the 2handed dmg of swords,I doubt many have done that all that often.

Polearms are prefferrable due to the range, all range 5 botds even the lower dmg Giant theresher would do more damage over time due to the longer range.But there is no lwbp weapon that does more dmg per hit than a 2h collossus blade.

You guys have killed swords-you & Hal in particular.

Now onto the general sword advantages:

For the umpteenth time-Versatility-use according to the situation-2handed pvm for all out damage,shift to a shield in danger zones or in pvp.

One thats not mentioned often-2handed swords are easier to take to lwbp than other 2handers-the bp is same as all 1handed weapons -35.If you are using swords 2h in pvm for more dmg,you dont need extra wias. Swords therefore, are in general a better choice for untwinked for these reasons.

*re the guide-Just finished the mammoth weapons grading in the pvm 2handed section-including 2h swords.Strategy is left-which should be quick & then I'll send it to you gooey for a partial release.*

It might be an effort in vain-but I'll try to revive swords popularity through the guide,I am ready as always to tackle whatever comes my way.I am not going to compare swords with other weapons-heck no- I know the zerker is superior 1h & gpa is the superior 2h..just trying to pump in some respect they deserve for ww(they lost the most here) especially since they ruled d2 in 1.09.

well, looks like I have to eat my foot (or something like that :lol: ). My prejudice against swords finally comes out. I never really have liked swords, their requirements are too high as the main reason. I've just had some deep seated dislike for them for as long as I can remember, but I don't know why. Gogo axes!

Botd zerk + Beast zerk, also aim for 100% cb (gores, duress, steelrends and if u can manage good rezists loose arreat for guillaume`s face), this setup will give 75/95 %cb and ~70 %DS with highlords amy.
About defence: achieveing about 20k def and 3k life was enough for my barb the only setback for not having a shield are dolls which a skield may block so i take them 1-2 at a time or let merc do the work. I also don`t feel the need for any pdr with this defence.
For merc i`d chose Reaper`s toll vs anything due to chance to decrepfy things - it triggers very often due to his jab attak and almost surely if u have some IAS like 30% IAS Crown of Ages.
