What is the fire-enchant bug?

i heard many times that the pople dead coz the fire-enchant bug on uniques.

they kill you when they explode?

It's not a bug, it's just how the game works now. Well, depending upon the type of player you are, you may or may not believe this to be a bug.

When you enchant a player, their weapon gets fire damage, ok? If that weapon also has a property of firing explosive arrows (i.e., Raven Claw, Demon Machine, Kuko Shlockakoo) then the fire damage is transferred to the explosion as well.

A person wearing a Raven Claw at level 15, therefore, can do the kind of damage that my characters were doing when properly enchanted. And that damage reached almost 4700 fire damage. So when you fire an exploding arrow, everything in the range of the explosion will receive the damage shown in your LCS. LCS being the Lying Character Screen, because it's never 100% accurate.

Dueling with enchant is considered very poor form, and in HC you have to look for people who are 'chanted. Anyone carrying a Raven Claw (and they do not reflect the "hot" color when enchanted so you have to know what you are looking at) has about a 99.9% chance of being enchanted.

At the end of last season I went dueling with enchant only because I was bored. Cheap ears, cheap ears. One hit kills all over the place.

Connor, I think he means something else:

When a fire enchanted monster dies, he delivers an explosion (guts splash out animation) that is partly Fire damage, partly physical damage. This damage scales with players in the game (because monsters HP scale with players in the game). This way, a monster like any of the Ancients, or Lister can deliver massive damage. (Somebody bring in the data her, pls...Talic e.g can have 12000 HP on NM, 64000 in hell....that is "ouch")

This has been adjusted for Hell games, but not NM..so actually the danger is higher in NM. Max resists, Fire absorb all help..but people with 95 res and Dwarfstar have still been know to die.

Other deadly combos: FE/LE, FE/CE...just don't deliver the killing blow on them if you are a melee fighter

Just to let everyone know this is something Seren figured out one day. If you hit a juv, regular or full, right before you get hit by FE, CE, or LE, then damage is multiplied. It's hard to notice with CE, but with FE the damage soars.

Expanding on what Det said, you need to worry about more than the FE death explosion. The fire enchantment is carried over into other things too sometimes. For example, the CBs from the Beetles in A2 or the IBs from the Bone Mages. Sometimes it seems to get you from thin air too. Almost like it's carried by the 'pulse' of an aura.

It's been 'fixed' on the Realms for Hell difficulty, but in SP it's still a big problem. It's killed more of my SP characters in Hell than anything else.

Ahh... and lest we all forget IMHO the most dangerous critter in the game... FE Spectral Hit :( Instant death from around the corner.

I had never considered the implications of that combination until you pointed it out. Ouchie. I will be watching for that from now on... :scared:

WHAT?!?!? Is this a previousl version of D2? Some private mod? How could that possibly work, since the two actions/calcualtions are independent, aren't they?

I believe the thing to say here is:

If you're skeptical, test it out. Otherwise, don't post about it, because you haven't experienced the bug.

hmmm

Don't know if they've changed anything with this from the last serverside patch ( don't think they did) but in NM its a big problem.. season 1 I lost a lvl 76 holyfreezze/zealot with holy shield on and Bo'd... in NM, 1 hit bam gone. Baal's Minion goes boom and I go bye bye... Just be careful arround the FE's in NM just like melees chars have to be arround the Iron maiden guys in the chaos sanc. The 3 ways people die unepectedly in HC? TPPK, FE bug, and IM.
