What is the cookie-cutter PVM sorc build without decent equipment?

I just decided to restart playing LOD today, and I am just wondering what's the standard cookie-cutter PVM build for this version? I am restarting from scratch, so any pointer on quickly building a decent pvm char that can do some MF runs on hell difficulty would be appreciated.

I just got back as well and made a light sorc. Without gear her damage is lacking and of course I'm a one tree wonder, so light immunes own me.

Without the oppertunity to get boosted or twinked I'd never go singeltree. I am currently running a meteororb sorceress and she's doing great. Except for ubers there's nothing she really can't do.

Meteorb is a fine choice, or Fireballorb as you will find yourself use Fireball alot also. Try getting as many +skills, resists as possible. Also ofc, try getting as high FCR breakpoint as possible. If you are on battlenet, also try trading for items as you gain perfect gems and runes. I reccomend forumtrading here, rather than ingame trading.

Meteorb is definitely easy to play with. If you're just starting up and are not rich, Spirit is probably the best/cheapest option for shield and weapon once you pass lvl 25. Get a lvl 2 merc with Defiance (normal/hell) or Holy Freeze (nightmare) and give him Insight. He'll be able to take care of any FI/CI you encounter.

since you want to do some mf, i would recommend blizz sorc.
i'll give you a couple reasons why i prefer blizz over meteorber when you are first starting.

I honestly think meteorber depends a lot on the gear she wears.
Especially if you are just starting you are not going to have lots of +skills and +res items.
untwinked blizzard can own hell meph which is a popular mf spot but untwinked meteorber will not be able to kill meph easily.

now for mf standpoint you won't be able to run baal or other popular lvl85 spots with blizz sorc. BUT you won't be able to do that with a poorly equipped fire/cold sorc either. trust me, you will pretty much die with one arrow from archers in pit if you are poorly equipped. so that leaves you to mf meph and andy (which is fairly easy if you use the door properly ). and blizz sorc does meph the best.

let's say you aren't going to be rushed to hell... no worries because normal and nightmare you don't have to worry about CI's... except a few exceptions. BUT you somehow need to get rushed to hell act3 if you go with blizz sorc then start mfing.
