What is the Best Moron, eerrr, Merc for Bowazon?

I have just finished act 1 norm with my new bowazon. I think a offensive merc would be the best. But I an not 100% sure. Offensive might? Or some other offensive? Right now I hired an act 2 merc and he gives me added attack rating with the little red swirly thing at my feet. What is that called? It's not might. Is that the best? Or is Might best for added damage?

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Hmm...

Blessed Aim won't be that much help, since you've probably got high-ish Dex, Penetrate, and +AR from skills.

The only other choices in Normal are Prayer and Defiance... Defiance might be handy, but I'm not too sure (it obviously depends how often you're being hit!).

In NM you could get Holy Freeze for slowing, or Might for damage, depending on your needs. Just say 'no' to Thorns, of course.

The other good choice would be an Act 5 merc... whilst I haven't tried them myself, apparently their AI is somewhat more aggressive than that of Act 2's idiots ('yeah Boss, you go fight those monsters, I'll just stand over here in this corner').

So Might, HF or a Barb, depending on your character's needs.

combat - prayer (regeneration)
defense - defiance (adds defense)
offense - blessed aim (adds AR)

i'd either take defiance merc or stick with the act1 cold rogue.

EDIT: my advice is for the now, not 30 levels from now in NM/Hell. End game I strongly suggest a Might merc or Barb, depending on the gear you find along the way.

I am saying this as from personal experiences. I don't recommend an Holy Freeze merc since you can easily get knockback and some freeze target mods on your items. freeze target is a bit harder though but its still possible and that will help you alot. So a Might merc which will increase your damage is the best choice in my eyes.

I would either use a defensive or holy freeze act ii mercenary. Both of them can help tank minions and keep the enemies still for you to kill.

It depends on what skills you are using. Obviously if you are using cold skills you will not use a holy freeze merc. Strafe benefits massively from a might merc. I tend to use a Defiance merc due to his high defense, so he can tank with my Valkyrie while I shoot the monsters.

I'd definately put my coin into a Might merc as well.
Defiance shouldn't be necessary if you are a bowazon and are generally away from the front lines. Without a shield and with less emphasis on your armor selections for pure defense, Defiance becomes wasted. With amazon evasion abilities, you should be moving and shooting without being swarmed anyways. Defense isn't an issue with my bowazons; it never has been.
Compared to heavy melee, magic and high damage builds, bowazons can seem weak offensively in Hell unless you have very high end gear. Might mercs help bring average bow damage into more acceptable ranges. The benfits of Might on Strafe have been mentioned and I agree wholeheartedly with that statement.

I've used ActV mercs before and they can manage just as well as most actII mercs, although that aggressiveness means you will be tending to their situation more often. I only use barb mercs with my sorcs because I can teleport if they get themselves in thick situations I need to bail them out of (which they get into often it seems). Sine a bowazon can get more benefit from an aura than a sorc, I would go with actII might. Damage is king.

The exception to knockback would be a Fire zon, as the knockback would knock them out of the radius of Immolation arrow I would imagine.

I forgot to say that you will probably use a Valkyrie as a tank so might is the way to go since you won't get farmed since the Valk will take care of that.
