What is good gear to use on Blizz MF sorc?

I've heard some people asy Tal's set is great for MFing. I've heard others say that wearing 3 al pieces is the way to go instead. Can someone give me the best setup for a Blizz MF sorc assuming Hell Meph is my main target? Not sure if I'm going with max vita or max block yet.

33 * 7% MF small charms

Max damage build, with 105% FCR, +16 to cold tree, 281% MF, 361% MF when weapon, helm and armour are Ist'ed, 611% MF on weapon/shield switch and clvl 90.

You said best setup. I'll leave it to someone else to give you the more affordable and practical setup.

You're welcome.

For the average wealth person, you could get away with

tals armor
tals ammy
tals belt

War Travs
Spirit shield
Chance guards

All sockets could be filled with p topazs. Switch would include Gull dagger and milabragas shield or rhyme runeword.

I'd ditch spirit for a Lidless (saving 61 str) and ofc only use PTopaz in armor and helm....

Rest seems like my favourite gear.

That's a neverending debate, but I'd say max vita for several reasons:
- Sorceresses have 10% less blocking than paladins, and no holy shield, which makes the dex investment HUGE, and you don't need AR for anything
- Some attacks can't be blocked by shields (only assa claw block)
- You can usually tele away from most dangerous melee monsters.

For PvP it's another story, IIRC, but I don't PvP.

so eveyrbody agrees that Tal's set isn't at good?
Totally enough. When using Occy/Shako instead with partial Tals you will get 100% extra MF but loose life and resists.

Either way will ofcourse work. I think both are viable, but full Tal's is in now way bad. You will have Gull/Ali Baba and Rhyme/4IST Monarch with either setup.

I would go with full Tal set. I rather dislike Occy random Teleport.

Lets try a more reasonable setup:

Tal ammy
Tal belt
Tal armour
The Oculus (this is Meph running, you shouldn't get hit much)
Spirit monarch
Chance Guards
Nagels * 2

Cold Skillers

7* MF small charms

On switch: Ali Baba and Rhyme

Random teleport aside, which setup would be better if the main target is Meph?

Also, is the steep Str requirement for Spirit really worth it? I can get almost as good in effect from a Lidless.

The one mentioned by both sunflowersmooth and myself (the cheaper setup).

Then go with Lidless. Maintain FCR above 63%.

You're welcome.

Also as a meph sorc, you're unlikely to level past the high 80s unless you go ancient tunnels. So if you die, that's not normally a problem. Unless HC ofc...

With partial tals+lidless+occy, you're at 70%FCR which is pretty much safe. Extra fast cursed fanat dolls can still be pretty deadly, but they're not very common.

Diabloii.Net Member
I just find it too much a pain to tele at 63% FCR instead of 105% (can't wait till I hit 200% - I won't want to go back). Even for a pure Meph runner I'd still want a faster tele (that means spririt and magefists).

There's a certain amount of safty that comes with speed. Monsters can't hit you even when you tele right thought them (even the packs of fanat dolls).

Of couse a faster tele means the whole run goes faster too. To some extent speed makes up for a small hit in MF%. (a higher MF% doesn't make runes and nice socketables drop any faster either)

It seems to me that at the point when you can finally afford the "best" MFing gear you realize you don't need to MF anymore.

*edit - boy just realized this was about my least useful post ever - NVM

i made an orber mfer using full tals (excellent mf, resists, skills) socketed pieces with cold facets, ist'd lidless. did about 850 dmg orb with my tals setup.... which afaik, is incredible for tals. fathom, nw, etc PURE dmg orbers only hit about 1.2k

Diabloii.Net Member
to get 105 I'd need to go arachnids, magefists, spirit etc. I won;'t reach high enough to wear Arachnids anyways...

You're not going past level 80 or not spending that much? lost me here.

Full Tal + P spirit + magefists = 105% (if the spirit isn't perfect then use a FCR ring)

Full Tal + chancies + lidless = 70% (past the 63% break point)

Diabloii.Net Member
I'll be at level 77 at most. I won't be beating act3 hell ever with this char. In other words, I'm only aiming for 63% FCR. I think I've decided to not use full Tals. Anyhow, Occy + partial tals + Lidless = 70, so that's enough.
