Hmm, my trapper uses 1-13k traps, 5 of them. That totals to 5-65k damage if all the traps are out and firing. If the target doesn't die quickly a trapsin has the potential to do more damage per "shot" than a lightsorc, but if the sin has to constantly recast traps and only hits with 1 or 2 at a time the sorc does way more damage. Because of the mechanics of actually playing the lightsorc can often do more damage in a big chunk than the trapper.

Anyone who's ever run into a 5 stack in PvP knows how much a trapper's full damage can hurt.

A trapper will have more life and with bos will be slightly quicker.

Sorc's are more fragile and far too common. They get teleport, but without FHR this can just be a reciepe for disaster.

High end: sorc
mid: sorc
low: assa

With low gear the sorc will not be able to teleport safely, while the sin can still run, a bit slow but safe. Once you get hold of moderately good gear the sorc can tele relatively safe, while the assa still can't tele well until she get high end gear, therefor the sorc wins.
None will have any problems surviving in high end gear, but the sorc will be faster because of faster tele.

When comparing their damage you have to consider that the sorc can benefit from -res while the sin can't apart from lower res and/or conviction. The assassin gets ds to help with crowd clearing. The sorc will be faster at killing bosses without doubt thanks too static.

In pvm a high end sorc will be faster for mfing then a high end assa. In pvp stunlock and the other skills of an asn gets to shine giving her an edge there.

if this is reffering to infinity, assasin's merc can weild it too and it is very effective against LI's.

It's refering to the fact that if a sin wears Griffons or something, it doesn't help the traps. He/she is saying that only Infinity and Lower Resist will help an assassin's traps.

I would still prefer an assassin at mid end, at least for that CE creep. Death sentry does away with him, while your sorc will probably get blown up pretty quickly if you screw up.

CE isn't much of a threat if you shoot lighting only at Nihlathak. Sorcs have more control over where the light damage goes. Tele is extremely useful for countess and summoner, although nearly anyone can run Nihlathak fast since the maps are simple and small.

I'd have to agree with Kijya.

If he turns out to be lightning immune you are done for, as he just earned a lot of bodies to blow. The vipers are also light immune as well, and they are troublesome with a character with such low life as a sorc.

On countress + summoner though, I would prefer sorc any day, regardless of my budget.

Countess is a breeze with an assassin trapper. Her minions nor her are lightning immune. With Lightning Sentry to start the body count, then Death Sentry to start popping, it's over very quickly for the Countess. :)
