What happens?

    Those are open characters.

    I.E. Characters on open battle.net and possibly playing a mod of the game.

    Battle.net cannot identify the versions of these characters, so they are displayed as robed figures.

    Open b.net is where non realm single player characters stored on your hard disk can play in multiplayer games with other such characters.

    Still, I remember way back when I saw the same thing, and my own realm character had the same hooded outfit. It might just be a temporary display bug.
