What happens after killing Baal?

I'm in normal difficulty and never have killed Baal.
I'm just interested.

Tyrael drops in, gives you a speech, then opens a portal for you. Once you go through that portal the game ends and you can choose the next difficulty level next time you load that character.

2 things:

1 - you become a Slayer
2 - you start again (in Nightmare mode)

Plus, you will have the option of creating hardcore characters. HC is really the only way to go if you're a true adrenalin junky like some of us.

EDIT: And that stuff Shade said. (I knew someone would beat me :grrr: )

well there is also a big cool cinematic screen at the end where we get to stare at tyreal's wings in awe.. mustn't forget that. then the whole thing is RUINED as it shows a big splash screen of cain and tells you your new title. at least cain doesn't want to talk to you(for once)

He pukes. The Earth shakes. Tyreal shows up and...well, I'll leave you some spoilers.

After you talk to Tyreal, you see the end movie, and the game saves and exits. You see a screen with a wonderful picture of Deckard Cain on it, who tells you that you will now be known as XXXXX Character Name, where the XXXX represents the appropriate title you've earned. You get returned to the start screen, and you can now play that character in either Normal or Nightmare.

HTH

yea, i advise watching all the cinematics after that. the story is ok if you have some backgroudn info (like who marius is and whos going to who). take a screenshot of your new title if you like, reload the character and youll be in act 1 nm the same as you left baal, but with no waypoints, quests, cain missing and mysteriosuly destroying the worldstone brings all monsters back, makes them stronger, and makes you less resistant. if you ask me, id keep the worldstone in 1 piece...

HC is the option you get after completing norm for the first time. any new character after that can be made HC. it means if you die once, you stay dead, no reloading or anything. getting to hell baal in HC without dying once shws you are a true expert at the game.

Take screenshot... when I press print screen and then open the picture it looks only mess. I haven't tried different color setting on my computer...How to get a good screenshot?

what i think your seeing is black, bit of pink and green, am i right? if so, then you need to do the video test. it shoudl be in the start menu. after it does the test, select direct 3D if its availble on your Pc. if you select direct draw you cant take screenshots, but its ess demanding on your PC, go direct3D and you'll get screenshots the quality as they appear ingame.

Oh yea, i totally forgot about moo moo farm. just go in with speakers on, although be careful, the first time i went in i was laughing to much and was very close to death...

When (if) you travel back to Harrogath, the NPCs will comment about the questionable decisions of Tyrael...

Back in .09 there was a reward in Baal drops: they were very nice. The keyword here is were .

Depending on your level you receive or not tons of experience.

The first time I went, I died several times from laughing. My wife couldn't figure out the sounds coming from the computer and why I was snickering so much; when she came in the room and saw what was going on we both starting laughing so hard we were crying.

Were?!?! They still are! Baal can drop every item in the game, not to mention the process of getting there (another area that can dorp every item in the game), and then the 5 super-uniques (which, I believe can drop everything) You just need a character who can run him fast and effecient. I recommend the fishymancer with a naj's staff on swap (for teleporting). Mine does pindle, eldritch, thresh and baal all in one game on /players1 in 7-8 minutes (depending on lister's mods) with 600 mf!

You know there are still quite a few who play 1.09. ;)

One other little point in case you are playing MP games. If you go thru the final portal it will end your MP game. If you haven't tried MP you should!

That I am aware of, but I inferred xnick posted as if he played v1.10 now and he was looking back on v1.09.

That's right.

I quited running Baal, because I was obtaining nothing but blue items, a few amount of gold and ocassionaly a crapy rare. With +400% MF in Hell...

Running Mephisto is like a zillion times more rewarding, in item terms (not exp.)
And after reading some posts here, i've learned that there exists places much more easy than ACT V where the drops are as good as there (ACT I Pits & ACT II Ancient Tunnels). Not that i had obtained something noticeable there :(

Salutations for you all :howdy:
