What Druid to Make?

I've heard that Druids are a very underpowered class, but I believe that it's time to try one out. What's a good druid pvm build, that's not gear dependent?

A necro is superior in almost every possible way. But I've played both and the druid summoner is actually a great deal of fun and very very cheap to make. The grizzly is incredibly durable, and with enought plus skills your dire wolves are going to be great too. Another good point about the druid summoners is using shockwave to make monsters harmless.

A necro can do that too with attract for melee monsters and dim vision for ranged attackers. But changing into a bear and running around swinging your arms is kinda fun.

lol shockwave and run.

If you can afford it i'd try out ele druids first. They're ridiculusly strong and a leave a lot of margin for error.

wind druids are very viable starting class too. a lot more more powerful but not anywhere close to summoner when it comes to having fun. unless you enjoy wrecking things up more than a little slower tactical play (although summoner crushes norm faster than any other char i've made).

for wind druid just slap on some spirits, viper etc. and you're good to go. oh and cyclone armor is more than godly

It really depends on your own preference. If you like melee characters, go with a bear or a wolf. If you like casters, go with a Windy. The best thing about Druid (IMO) is that you can quite easily combine skills and create a fun character. The Wind Druid is pretty expensive to make (like most casters), while the shapeshifters are relatively cheap.

Look up Safetypro's Town Dump Werebear guide in the stickies. It's a build that is quite cheap, a lot of fun, and a great introduction into Druids.

i'd say it's a lot easier to make windy hell viable than any SS druid. and by viable i mean more than just play through hell aka run areas. sure some people enjoy running pits etc with wolf for example but i'd leave that to caster such as windy

reason for windy being easier is the access to spirits and items such as viper/jalals are worth few pgems. for SS druid you'll need a good weapon which usually costs a bit, oath being one of cheapest good ones. FC bear is an exception as he'll kick butt with just 6shael pb but windy kills faster (with approximately same amount of wealth invested in the druid ofc)

(solve PI problems with reapers toll on merc if you choose windy/fury druid)

Both builds can beat the game naked so... yeah. Druids only lack an AOE damage spell that the Necro has. Otherwise it's pretty even. Hell, a Fire Huntermentalist can actually clear areas faster if played right.

FC Bear is one of THE easiest and safest builds to make. You need a handful of Shaels to be a killing machine.

Ribcracker costs next to nothing, and its an amazing weapon.

Sounds good to me. Can you link me to an FC Bear guide? (I hope FC isn't the glitch that Javazons use with Charged Strike/Lightning Strike)

Fireclaws or fury.

Fireclaws can get going as soon as level 18 and using a "steel" scimitar. It's not a pretty weapon, but for the level I believe it's the fastest and cheapest one out there. You'll drink a lot of mana potions so grab and sell all the loot that drops...
End game for a FC bear is a 6 shael phase blade which nets him a 4 frame attack! Or, he can use ribcracker for some crushing blow goodness as well as a slower attack rate.

Fury is a little more dependent on items. Ribcracker, windhammer, and other big meaty things are your end game weapons.

Edit: I don't like the Windy. Lower life points, has to be up close to attack most often and hurricane drives me nuts because I can't hear other things with it whirling around and around....

Summoner has to be my favorite imo :).

As for druid vs necro, a fully equiped druid get throw out grizzlies that net him 15k+ dmg per swing :p, or 5k+ dire wolves, both with around 20k+ AR, this is enough to wipe the floor anyday.

As for PI, use poison creeper and it'll clear away those crowds.
