I know what 4os and 5os mean, but how many sockets does a o0s item have? Or is that even what its referring to??

I dont think you can use the cube recipe to add sockets to ethereal items. So a 0os eth CB would be worthless. (correct me if I am wrong) But no a 6os eth CB is definetely worth something because its perfect for a BoTD because it is indestructible...

Ethereal items can get socketed both by recipe and Larzuk reward.


As for the original question: I think o0s is weird and confusing. Why not simply write 'unsocketed'?

well .... Xos = X open sockets. So 0os = white items with potential for socketing.

I still say that's confusing (though I agree that is the reason os is used). A 3 socket item with 3 els in it has "0 open sockets." Why can't it just be Xsoc? Of course they should be "open."

Confusing it is. I try to use 0s as opposed to 0os (zero sockets instead of zero open sockets) However, stating 3os when those sockets are filled is misleading, mostly people cube with a hel to clear them out, or state what's in the sockets.

But habit is the culprit for that, because it's been used for so long we're used to it, so it persists.

It's items other than normal that you can't cube socket, meaing cracked, superior, etc.

You can put the maximum amount of sockets that the "item" can have when its white with the cube...

so does this mean that if I find an eth berzerker axe, and i larzuk it, it will get 6 sockets? or are there other factors? for example, does it have to be hell larzuk? or, does my char have to be a certain level to get 6 sockets?

Larzuk gives you the max number of sockets the item can get based on its item level. This depends on where in the game the item is found. Which difficulty Larzuk quest you use or your character level won't affect it, just the item level.
