What does -20 requirements do?

I have a mace equipped with -20 requirements and I can't equip a piece of armor that requires 65 str even though I have 60 str. Whats up with this?

The "-% Requirement" modifier applies only to the item the modifier is placed on. So it only applies to your mace in this case and not the armor.

-requirements only affect the item itself. It doesn't "lend" it's attribute to other equipment.

It means the mace requries less strength and dexterity -- not any other items.
