What do I socket in Tomb Reaver

What do I socket in Tomb Reaver

I just found a 3 socket tomb reaver. What should I put in it for my level 90 act2 nm HF merc? Shael, Amn, Amn? It'll replace his 2X amn bonehew.

Well, the Tomb Reaver has 60 IAS on it, meaning your merc is attacking at at least 6.5 FPS.

To get him to 6.0 FPS, he will need a total of 95 IAS. One Shael, of course, will add 20 IAS bringing the known total to 80 IAS. Now if you have additional IAS gear/socketing on him that will bump him up to 95, then go for shael, amn, amn.

Now, you could save the shael and socket it amn-amn-amn for a whopping 21% LL (pretty darn good), or you could go the enhanced damage route via jewels/ohm.

Another factor to consider is what do you do with this character. If you primarily run mephisto/baal/other demon, pul runes can boost demon damage significantly. If you run pindle a lot, eld (yes, eld) runes can boost damage to the undead to some crazy levels. Clone hunter? Mal will get you PMH. Lo/Sur/Ber all have some merit as uses in this weapon. And don't forget: ist/ist/ist. :yep:

PMH does not work for merces, so you might as well give the mal to me if you're going to socket it in a merc-weapon.

Really? Whoops. I could've swore it did based on my run-ins with the DClone and his insane life regen rate and how it seems to stop when my merc uses a bonehew.

Can I get a link to where you found that?

PMH does not work for merces, so you might as well give the mal to me if you're going to socket it in a merc-weapon.

Yeah I recently found a Tomb Reaver and went with AmnAmnEld just to be on the safe side cause those skeles with charge can almost kill my merc. I mean besides pots his saving grace is 24 LL. Perfect weapon for mfing since it already has mf mod on it and killing pindle cause of the undead ed/ar mods. This weapon was just made to kill pindle over and over again with ease.

I'm using a reaper's toll on my merc. I've found the decrepify to be far more useful. If you can find one, I'd suggest using one of these instead.

However if you're going to use the tomb reaver anyway, 3x Amns is the way to go. Especially if you're running a sorceress. 21% ll + Tomb Reaver * Act 2 Merc = Uber Tank

Let me ask you this. What are the eact specs on the reaver. If the ed and res is high, I'll offer hansomly for it.

I'm using a reaper's toll on my merc. I've found the decrepify to be far more useful. If you can find one, I'd suggest using one of these instead.

Reaper is good for everywhere else but for just pindle mfing you can't go wrong with Tomb.

I'd take an etheral DOOM Great Polaxe / Giant Thresher over Reaper Troll but the chances of me making or getting one are next to none.

I have tried both Reapear's troll and Tomb reaver extensively on my merc and what I found is that Repear's is probably a more efficient weapon because of decrepify but as far as mf goes Tomb is next to none really. Not many weapon offer more mf and flexiblity. Mine had only 2 sockets and I went amn amn. Would be nice to find a 3 sockets ethereal one.

If I wasn't boss mfing and just area mfing then yeah I would go with reapers troll cause the decrpify helps a ton as far as crowd control but if you doing just boss runs like me you want as much mf as you can.

Thanks for all the ideas. My merc was a tank when he wore Glads Bane, Tals Mask, and Bonehew. I switched him to mf a while back and gave him Shako, Tals Armor and was really hoping for a Tomb Reaver for the mf. He's a bit more fragile, but I think I can still get away with putting a p/topez skullders I've got muled away on him. Right now I socketed the Tomb Reaver with AmnAmnEld, at some point I'll go AmnAmnIst.

I traded away the Ists I had just sitting here for the runes to make my HotO. 12K hammers are kinds fun, but most I just use an Isted wizspike still have 9.6K hammers and 83 more mf. Because someone will ask with HotO I have to wear magefist to pass the 75% fcr breakpoink, with with Ist'ed wizspike I can wear 40 chancies and drop the BK ring in favor of a nice rare that has 13mf as one of it's mods. For Baal, Diablo, and DC I go HotO and merc gets his bonehew back, everything else is wizzy.

BTW drops do seem to have improved a bit with my merc using Tomb Reaver and I just let the merc take care of Pindle now.
