What do i DO?

okay so i have a lvl 61 barb but i cant even do meph on NM beacuse i have such crappy items... what should i do to get better items?

Sometimes high level chars will make games where they will give away free items. that can sometimes work otherwise you'd just have to find the items.

don't be a mooch...find some socketed armor and helm pop in some topazes and start magic finding....it won't be too long before you start to find some items that you can use and you will probably find a few that you can trade....save those junk gems and low crafting runes and cube up your gems....these are currency in the trade forums for low to mid uniques.....a few perfect gems, some junk jewels and a few rals would get you a few ik pieces(ik set is an good set for magic finding....don't get discouraged
try to get to act 5 and hang out in some baal run games you will level fast there.....a few more levels will help.....are you using a merc? if so try to keep him close to your level

Acquiring & trading perfect gems - any character can do this in any level of the game - is the quickest way to acquire wealth.

On which realm do you play?

If your barb uses a shield I suggest Ancients Pledge (Ral-Ort-tal). The Smoke armor (Nef-Lum) is also within your reach in nightmare. With that amount of resistance and defense you should be cruising nm Meph in no time. There are some low lvl rune weapons that can help also.

I would go for pgems yes. Some people want those gems badly. I'm no good player (i have never made a runeword :xx: ) but i collected pgems. No i have full natalya's and i have traded once: shako for 10 pgems (best deal i ever made) So go for gems, you will be the richest man/woman in no time :xsmile:

If you're primarily fighting meph, cold resist and lightning resist are paramount (and poison/fire for in the durance). For cold and poison you could always go the thawing and antidote potions route, though it's kind of a pain for continued boss running. For lightning if you cant afford anything expensive, try something like:

1 Ring + 1 Perfect Topaz + 1 Rejuvenation potion = 1 Coral Ring 21-30% Lightning Resistance

There are others as well.

1 Ring + 1 Perfect Sapphire + 1 Thawing potion = 1 Cobalt Ring 21-30% Cold Resistance

1 Ring + 1 Perfect Ruby + 1 Exploding Potion = 1 Garnet Ring 21-30% Fire Resistance

1 Ring + 1 Perfect Emerald + 1 Antidote Potion = 1 Jade Ring 21-30% Poison Resistance

One perfect gem of each type with any amulet gives you resist all, but with six perfect gems you could trade for some pretty good items, so I wouldn't reccommend that one. On the trading forums there will periodically be someone cleaning out their mules for a certain type of gem (or rals or junk jewels), and you can get pretty good items for almost nothing.

There are some low lvl rune weapons that can help also.

For bosses, crushing blow is extremely helpful. Bonesnap, Crushflange, Fleshrender (uniques), Black (Thul+Io+Nef in a three socket gray text flail), and Strength (Amn + Tir in two socket gray text melee weapons) are good and inexpensive. I would reccommend Black, as it's fast and has 40% crushing blow. Guillame's Face, a helm, also has crushing blow on it, as well as Gore Riders and Goblin Toe unique boots. You'll still need decent damage, though, as crushing blow only works well until 1/3 or 1/2 health.

And what realm (and ladder or nonladder) are you? I might be able to help with basic mf stuff.
