What classes survive best in HC Hell?
This is ladder and I will find all my equipment from scratch.
IMO! It's all in players exp. But I will go with necro for safe.
Pure survivability = Conc Barb
They've got everything built in... high defense, tons of life, and good resists. You won't be able to kill much outside of solo games though.

The basic summonmancer is a very nice starter, no magic skills necessary. Some curses. However, you'll need both decrepify and summon resist before norm D, but it's pretty easy to get to level 24 before D. The rest is even easier.
Concentrate barb is okay but kind of equipment dependant and norm D would be quite an obstacle. Hell archers might still pose a threat even with a really good shield.
I would vote for javazon with max block. Seriously, of those attacks that pass your defence, only 0.25*0.5 actually hit you. Also you are less effected by block penalty when running. And you have one of the most powerfull attacks in the game: Lightning Fury which is ranged, and that adds more to safety. And dont forget about good valkyrie and decoy. My javazon survives better than my hammerdin, even he has quite a good gear on. 1 because of better distance between monsters and her, 2. because of passives.
I agree but the problem with javs is LI and getting past the Gloams Hell act5. Any suggestions on this problem would be welcomed.
I got a level 72 javazon, i dont think shes that good, as a matter of fact i dont like her too much she isnt fun :sleep: and i think she sux...but thats just me.

Wand of LR + Merc + Valk > Gloams, they still take a while because they have big resist after being non-immuninized, are undead so you can't leech, and drain your mana...but they are still dealable with.
As for necros, I was able to solo normal D about 4 out of 4 tries with summoning necros, 3 times with recasting clay golem and letting an A1 merc do damage while keeping him amped (fairly slow, but meh) the 4th time was in classic so I was using level 1 bone spear due to not having a merc to do damage for me.
And NORMAL D being an obstacle for a conc barb? How?
Yes there is IM to watch out for, but other than that an untwinked barb is probably the strongest char there is for doing normal untwinked. In 1.09 every time I felt like starting up on HC again after long breaks with SC dueling I'd do it with some random barb because you could get through norm and start running NM meph insanely easily. Doesn't work well any more thanks to NM being harder (No leeching on meph, archers hurt in A2/5, and durance 2 isn't exactly runnable) but normal is still mostly unchanged and there's no reason for a barb to have difficulty THERE. If your goal for example were to run norm baal rather than NM meph, a conc barb would work fine.
It was the last week in October. I had been used to building sorcs for mfing. 1.10 was released. So I started a 1.10 sorc. Yay! I still have that sorc. She is ok for mfing in nm but at lvl 80 got quickly stuck in hell.
About a month ago, I started a barb. He is now lvl 78 and in act 4 hell. I am going slow because im scares me.
Point is, I can progress fairly eaisly with the barb, sorc is much harder. So I would agree with dizzy gillespie guy (phat trumphet).
Wand with Dim Vison charges and and GA on a bow on switch? Or Plaque javelin if you want to be pure java? Or a Demons Arch Balrog spear? Or create new game when they spawn for that area :lol:
Safest class. Hm.. Trapsins can be very safe..and Necros like said before.
With skellies, golem, merc, evt. revives and al their curses.
Decripify, amp, dimvision and attract, no problem with gloams.
Defenitly necro's, if you go untwinked.
best classes to survive
1) necro with squelly and off merc
2) assassin with shadow master and traps and def merc.
3) amazon with walk and def merc
