What can be found in the pit ?

I want a nice amazon next to my mf fishymancer. Now i have a question, what items can be found in the pit ? Can you guys give some examples of uniques or good items you found there ?

Every possible unique can be found there. Including Tyrael's Might, though of course it isn't very likely. (See the ATMA drop calculator or the DropCalc part of GoMule for probabilities.)

Hrus' MF guide at http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=412453 has a good discussion and analysis of the level 85 areas, in terms of ease of running and number of bosspacks.

Apart from the Cow set, quest items and the like, Baal GCs and SC cannot appear there. Only Diablo (only GCs), Nihlathak and Baal drop them.

BTW, "Baal GC/SC" is the term for a GC/SC which can have any affix and GCs are very popular for the 3 pgems+magical item reroll recipe.

Put enough time in, and yes, you'll get one (or three or ten) eventually. But the really top-end items are rare enough that luck is as important as anything. For most "usable" items that can be dropped by monsters like Mephisto, he's a superior target - he just can't drop much of the top-end stuff.

I've found Griffon's Eye, Schaefer's Hammer, and Mang's Song in the Pits - I've been reluctant to go back because I'm probably far ahead of the curve for the amount of time I've spent there, and it would take a couple dozen hours of non-luck to even it out.

Regarding uniques, don't expect more than one decent item per 50-100 runs, it depends a bit on MF. Many good items are socketables and items which you can find elsewhere as well, like rares, charms, jewels, crafting runes and (of course) flawless gems etc., but if you can kill monsters quickly in the Pits, do it. It gets boring quickly, however, so it's a good idea to have characters for other good areas as well, like the Tunnels, CS, WSK, Andy, Meph, Andy, Pindle, Eldritch, Baal etc.

I've been doing pitruns with my necro in a few weeks now. Found a lot of eth and sock items that I've traded and actually got 'richer' than I ever been before. But today it happened. Found a Maras29!
Many times I thought, "boring pits". But I'll probably live in the pits in the future after getting a drop like that.
