What age did people here start playing D2? Because my 7 year old wants to play ...

I'll be a whopping 25 years old at the end of September (30th to be exact), I started playing Diablo II: LOD in 02' IIRC, so... I was 12 years old when I started. Been an addict ever since, and it's my second most nostalgic game, (Final Fantasy VII grabs the #1 slot.) I was 8 years old when I first played FF7, and I balled like a baby when Sephiroth killed Aeris...that was my most memorable gaming moment (I'm a pretty emotional person as-is, and a hopeless romantic, so that whole Cloud/Aeris awkward & almost-love story is and always will be my bread & butter..)

I bought a copy of D2/LoD back in August 2002 when I was 38, but I'd been playing for a year or so at a mate's place before that.

There's very good reasons to capitalize the H in Halloween. Like, if you're refering to one of my favorite metal bands from the 80ies, for example. Actually I think they're still around but they were formed in the 80ies, if I am not mistaken. What I do know for certain is that they're awesome. :3 Keeper of the Seven Keys is still one of my favorite songs, even after 20-ish years. ... Once more I realise that I am old. But that's good. The alternative was dying young and leaving a beautiful corpse, but I'll be damned if I get plastic surgery just to kill myself.
(love the multiquote now. May have to play a round of mafia)
You never used the work "halloween" or "Halloween" in your post except for the one time. Never gave a reason.

I saw diablo ii in the 6th grade, which was... 1998 even though it wasn't released until two years later. So, maybe it was because my Mom's friend married a guy's car I used to kick for good luck in the 6th grade and I wound up in his wedding lighting his candles. Told him I'd wash it; never did. I reckon later, the year 2000, I saw him playing the game. I thought it was the first diablo, but there was more grass, and the Rouge Encampment is what I remember. I thought my Mom's friend was very attractive. She was a young red-head. Man... She was fun, too. We'd play games and stuff. Not videogames, but like, games you play with friends when you're out and about.
There is a picture my mom has of me and her that she's had forever it seems, and in the picture I'm not smiling, just barely grinning. That makes me sad that I didn't smile for her for the picture. She's so young looking in it.
Well, now that we know this child isn't playing, and no one knows how to use

I played the classic Mortal Kombat on Arcade even when I was barely able to see the screen properly, so I never was a "ratings"person, I guess... :)

I believe I was 14 when I started with D2 (I think... I remember I started around the release), but I was used with that level of gore back then. Since the game isn't realistic/doesn't have great graphics using today's criteria, I think it makes things easier for kids/parents.

Cool thread!

Good to see this thread coming back. Let's watch another vid, starring the world's cutest Diablo fan :)

I love that clip! Thank you for digging it up.

And I think it's very illustrative concerning children and violence in media. Had that girl been sitting alone in a dark room while playing the game, the dad might have had to put up with an additional person in his bed a couple of nights. But sitting besides her father in a safe and caring environment, she clearly enjoyed it and I doubt it will affect her negatively in any way. At least that's my opinion; I use the age limit as a guideline and bend it according to the circumstance either up or down.
One thing puzzled me about the clip though: the video tapes on the table. I haven't used a video-tape in years.
