Weird Paladin Build - Need Advice

Weird Paladin Build - Need Advice

I've had an uber-twinked Hammerdin before, and Zealots aren't anything new to me either. Avengers and FoHadins don't really hold any appeal to me at the moment, so I had a brainstorming session on figuring out a weird build that was still viable in Hell.

I came up with this absurdity:

20 Fanaticism
9 Conversion

Weapon: Harmony (Diamond Bow)
Amulet: Something with Iron Golem charges

In case you haven't figured it out, I'm trying to make a Paladin with a few strong minions, with Conversion as temporary help. With this, I figure I can get a merc, Valkyrie, and Iron Golem going at the same time, as well as 2-3 converts at any given moment, all powered by Fanaticism.

I'm having trouble deciding on whether this is actually viable in Hell, though, as well as what else I should throw my skill points in, and any other gear. That's where you all come in.

Help please! :whistling:

hmmm with that much open points it may be viable to throw some points into hammers to add some damage to minions attack

One thing to mention,

I don't think Conversion will work with a Bow. However, I have never used it, but I believe it is melee only. Which isn't a bad thing until you realize that you have to weapon switch to melee, and poof goes the Valk.

The Amulet is Metalgrid btw, which would be tricky to use since with no Golem Mastery, his life will suck, and not to mention he will poof each game. Something else to consider is Stone for the Clay Golem charges.

You also have:

Beast - For the Bear, and lvl 9 Fana meaning you can run Conc for more damage.
Crescent Moon - iirc for the Wolf charges.
Carrion Wind - The Poison Creeper charges.
Peace - ctc Valk
Wisp/Natures - Oak/HoW/SoB

Personally, I would give up the Valk for the Bear and go Beast. It gives the Fana by default, therefore you can run a different aura. Something like Conc would give more damage, but say Holy Freeze would help you Minions survive better me thinks. Also, it allows you to use a Shield (Dragonscale I think it is for Hydras maybe) and you still can pack a wallop yourself.

So that could give you Merc, Bear, Valk, Golem, Vine, Spirit all at once. Throw it on a Sin instead, and you can get a Shadow too. Or go overkill and use on a Necro.

The Minions may not do that much damage, but enough with all the auras and whatnot. However, you will want to BO them possibly to help them survive. CTA would work, save for on the Bear, but a Barb giving BO/Shout would better help them survive.

All you had to say was "Conversion doesn't work with a bow."

Thanks, though. I never used it myself, so I thought it worked somewhat along the lines of the Assassin's Mind Blast, where you could simply spam it from range.

I guess I'll switch this build over to Assassin, since I don't have the wealth for the good runewords (CtA, etc.) and the extra skill points can just be dumped into Lightning/Death Sentry.

I like it on a paladin more. You can have an own aura, and use conversion. When you get wealthier, I would like to see how this build goes for a paladin

Oh, and if you're going to use a sin, be sure to use psychic hammer alot. It's a great underestimated skill, and it fits this build very well. Look at this guide for more details: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508343

try bramble on you or your merc for the added thorns aura then maybe dream helm with him just to get an extra aura heck if you had a holy freeze merc you could give him a hand of justice have all three at once but i think that should be saved for another day

damage auras need to be synergized to be effective. Otherwise they suck
