We need a sticky on the top of this board

Hi Nolomite,

I am glad that we can discuss things so openly, it's a good thing to do to put something on the table and discuss about it. Fercil and I were trade mods for ages, and Fercil can back me up on this, we both have banned if not thousands, hundreds of cheaters from the site.

The fact is, people are going to cheat, try to cheat, cheat and lie about it, ignore warnings and cheat, ask about cheat, ask about cheat even after reading warnings, and come back and ask about cheats again after being banned...fun eh? :) Please go to the trade forums and just take a look, we have stickies on all the trade forums warning people against cheating, yet almost every day there's still someone banned for cheating.

IF, by giving you or this forum a brand new cool looking sticky (with neon lights and little twinkling stars next to the title and 15 arrows point to it:)) can stop people from asking stupid questions about cheats, goodness, I am more than happy to do it. Trust me, I've been around for 2.5 years and I can tell you for sure, "they" will not look, ok even if "they" looked then "they" would just choose to ignore it. I know, what about installing a program and ask everyone to click on a disclaimer and agree that the post they are about to make is not cheat related, just to make sure someone doesn't ask about cheats right? After all, we can't be too careful when it comes to warning people about cheats right?

Moderators are like forum police, we keep the rules and see to it that rule breakers are dealt with properly. We are not here to prevent crime, really! Remember Tom Cruise in the Minority Report? Excuse me, crime prevention just doesn't work, sorry I am not God. All we mods can do is clean up. You know, we all should give "new people" the benefit of doubt and some patience on the side, a simple post like "Sorry, you are not allowed to ask about cheats on this forum!" I am sure is enough to chase them away. If they persist, then you have the right to alert a moderator. You are going to say that you have been doing that and you are getting sick and tired of typing the same thing over and over again. Well, think again, think about how sick and tired we moderators are, yet we still do it. :p

That's all I have to say!

Have a good day!

I still agree with Nolo :)

Just call the thread

Sticky :::This Forum does not tolerate hacks or cheats - click for info

At least then if they dont read the sticky - which many ppl dont at least they will likely read that topic and know that its not allowed.

I cant see on my screen where it says dont discuss cheats and hacks. I use the latest explorer, and there is nothing on my screen at all.

I think it would be good to have another sticky with Top 100 Newbie Questions answered just so we dont get constant clutter -- after all the same questions pop up every day.

I know everyone says use the search button - but lets face it - it doesnt work half the time and the other half it never finds what you are looking for.

I think its good to see Nolo stand up for what he believes in - and he should be respected for his postion on trying to make these forums a better place for everyone.

Summersky ::: It would be nice if u could just ban ppl before they wrote about cheats LOL :) U just need one of them cool ball machines that pops out some balls

ball one : ( name of account ) SuperHackerPoster
ball two : ( crime to be commited ) Writing about Maphack.

I guess SumerSky maybe you could humour us and place the sticky if we see hack links pop up then you can say u told us so and remove it :)

Just my 2c.

SS, I think the problem isn't that we can't just post a gentle reminder that they can't talk about stuff like that here, the problem is when it erupts into a debate about whether or not it is appropriate as in a recent thread here. When longtime members start defending the use of hacks and cheats and flaming someone like Nolo for his position, I can completely understand why he gets as pissed off as he got, and frankly, while I never posted in the thread myself, I lost a lot of respect for some posters that day. That's where the problem comes into play. When respected members of the forum start taking tolerant positions on hacks, in my opinion we have a problem. I think Nolo was looking for a way to prevent more of these people from coming in here and starting the debate to begin with, frankly, because he's sick of trying to be helpful and getting flamed to hell and back when he does it.

And I can't say I blame him in the least.
