Warren Jeffs Arrested
Creepy looking bastard.
That guy is such a creep. *Shudder*
Creepy and slimy, yes. I'm just wondering how this guy ended up on FBI's ten most wanted list; I don't see him posing an immediate direct threat to anyone. Arranging underage marriages is a long way from murder, and the primary responsibility for such crimes is anyway on the parents of the teenagers.
What is it with whacked-out religious leaders that you can immediately tell they are a creep just from their picture?
Because he's a polygamist too, and if there's one thing that US can't stand, it's someone else having different ideas about marriage.
He was personally involved in dozens of forced marriages and statutory rapes of young teens. I think it's disgusting he stayed free for as long as he did.
Who has creepier eyes? This guy or John Mark Karr?
As I mentioned to my friend, it shouldn't have been hard to find him with a face like that.
"I'm sorry, sir, but I'm going to have to take you into custody. Your face screams 'creepy pedophile' to me."
He had a large following that kept him hidden. It's not that hard to do in Vegas either when you have money to throw around.
he doesnt look that creepy to me.
Nor to me...
I'm not for polygamy, but sheesh. Do we really need to prosecute this guy?
I am for polygamy (or at least the right of people to marry whoever they want), but yes, this guy needs to be prosecuted.
He's basically been setting up young girls to be preyed on by older men.
Because the whacked-out religious leaders are also the most fanatical, and you can see that in their eyes. There's something different about a fanatic, you can see it, and it's that nearly unnaturally driven look that the rest of us register as 'creepy'.
I'll second this sentiment.
Polygamy isn't the main issue. Forced marriage (and consumation thereof) of barely pubescent girls is the issue.
Exactly. Having two women around could be a wonderful thing. Or a double nightmare.
Exactly. One to bring you food while the other washes the dishes.
you mean that it's ILLEGAL?!?
*starts packing to leave country*
Oops... didn't read the whole article...
I thought it was only about polygamy...should have read it all before I posted.
And for the record, I personally think polygamy is wrong, but what I was trying to say is that I don't we should be prosecuting someone who practices it. People have the right to make those kind of choices for themselves.
It's not the religion. It's the pedophilia.
Check out this photo. The girl is an Austrian girl who recently escaped from a kidnapper. The room is the room she was held prisoner in between ages 10 and 18. The guy is her kidnapper.
At least half of the pedophiles that get their picture in the paper look about as creepy like that one. Any one of these guys is creepier than the pope, Ayatollah Khomeini and the Dalai Lama combined.
Just for the record: these marriages are typically of much older men to barely (or not) legal women, and they are often incestuous (all of these polygamous communities become incestuous given enough time). These women are raised in a brainwashing cult, their ability to give consent is severely compromised. This is very different from consenting adults who were raised in normal communities being polygamous. These girls are also often forced into these marriages by their parents, they have to be smuggled out of these communities by an underground railroad.
P.S. it's also rather telling that they only practice polygyny, and never polyandry.
He's a cult leader, he has a powerful influence on the weak-minded...
