    Virus Help

    Um..

I guess the thread got deleted.

There was another thread in here a few minutes ago about a guy asking for help with another game.

I clicked on the link, and it popped up something for me to clikc yes or no.

I clicked no, but that brought up another window, that I closed, then it asked me to click yes or no again, again I clicked no.

At this point my norton pops up saying that it has detected a download.trojan and it is unable to repair it.

Did anyone else run into this same problem with this thread? Im currently in the process of updating my virus protections and rescanning the system. Can anyone else tell me what I can do to help this problem out?

That was a guy asking for help with outwar and posting a link to his ID. If you can find the file i say just delete the bastard. Also, get zone alarm if you don't have it already.

The guy who came in posting about that Outwars crap game. I'm sorry that happened to you, Toader. I thought I had put down something to tell people not to click on the link... sucks dude, my sympathies.

Download the virus onto a disk and then douse the disk in gasoline... set the disk on fire.

It is importaint that you don´t smash the disk since that will set the virus loose again. Also, don´t put out the fire no matter how much the disk begs and pleas.

well is it sucking up a lot of your RAM? cause i had a virus a while back that would suck up practically all my RAM. I was able to locate it using task manager and deleted it. im not that good with computers but if nothing works you may have to re-install everything

Do a norton or trend micro scan, if they can't fix it they'll tell you where the bugger is hiding, write down the location and go investigate.

The virus isnt affecting anything at all that I can notice.

The only reason I even know its there is because Norton said it found it, but it wasnt able to fix it. I just updated my virus definitions and re-scanned my hard disk, but it came up with nothing this time.

I dont even know what it affects, whether it is a keylogger for Diablo, or what the heck it is. Makes me even more nervous now that Norton didnt detect anything after a 10 minute deep scan.

It sounds like norton quarantined the downloader. Note that this trojan doesn't do much except download something, usually spyware or something, and if you have it quarantined it can't even do that.

Go into Norton and check your quarantined files, you should be able to delete it from there.

EDIT: In norton goto Antivirus: Reports: Quarantined Items.

If you have Windows XP (do you?) you can just do a System Restore. That's the only thing that keeps me on XP at the moment.

The minute I started reading the first post, I was thinking "....Outwar..."

If you click on ANYTHING that it remotely related to Outwar, there is a 90% chance that you will download a virus. I've done it twice - once while browsing a different forum, and another at yet another forum. This guy gave a link, and "Whadaya know, Outwar!"
