virgin sin - part 2

I've decided to build my first assassain. I posted last week and I had to leave town. So my topic kind of died.

I want to make a MA/trap hybrid. I have read 9 out of 11 guides and I think I have so much information I'm almost confused.

I feel like I have the Shadow disciplines down and will mostly get a point in each.

The traps. I plan on maxing LS. And getting DS between 10-20. That will be the way I kill with traps.

My biggest question is what to do on the MA tree. I originally thought I was going to go TS/DT. I was about sold then I saw a couple of potential issues.

----------------------
Questions

1) Which direction should I go with MA?

2) C/C or C/S. I'm currently level 20 with 10 skill points left to allocate. The only skill I have two points in is claw block. I really thought I should go for claw block as I was almost sure I was going to go dual claws. This was because a) it looks cooler b) I believe it is what an assassain should do c) the ability to block elemental attacks just seems awesome. After reading some of the guides though I'm convinced the optimium equip for a kicker is not dual claws.

3) Equipment options. Claws - got both Bartuc's and Jade. Which is one reason I tought dual claw. With the standard idea of getting a lot of CB I have on standby Guillames helm, Tiamat's shield, and Gorerides warming up in the bullpen. Not sure what armor to go for.

4) BOS or Fade. I'm not sure what direction to go for here either. I was originally favoring going with Fade. The DR on top of the resists was the best overall I thought. Now I'm not so sure. Depending on my MA weapon and killing skills that could change. I truly understand how important IAS is to a zon.

5) Tradeoffs - It seems like going for a high level in a couple of trap skills and a couple of MA skills means some things I'll have minimal or won't use.
Venom or the blade trap skills will likely be at zero. I also plan to ignore the left side of MA tree unless I decide to go for Phoenix and then I'd have minimum and max Phoenix.

Any options greatly appreciated. I think no matter what I do this character will be pretty bad ass. I just want to make sure. I'm at the point where I'm ready to start spending skill points, where I might be wasting them, depending on my final build.

Ahoy. Your old thread should be alive, but is likely several pages back now. You can find it, but it looks like you asked everything again anyway.

1) I would use Dragon Talon (18-20 points) with one point in Dragon Flight if you want the transport. With a hybrid, those 3 points to get DF are optional imho.

2) Both. You may think I'm crazy, but here's what I would do. First, have dual +3 traps claws on one part. Then have a weapon switch with your kicking gear. Because traps are ranged, you could simply skimp out on any more points in Weapon Block, and use dex with your shield. The reason for using a shield in melee is that most of the ranged attackers can be stopped with CoS. Because of this, PvP becomes the only place where the spell-blocking becomes useful.

3) With a hybrid, there are basically two options - one is to go heavy traps with Talon as a side skill, or to go the reverse. The biggest split is in the gear when choosing between CB and +Skills.

4) With a talon/trap build you could go either way depending on the weapon. The fastest kick speed is fairly easy to reach with a -30 weapon (50 IAS or better without BoS), so it really depends which way you go with gear. I would most likely go BoS for 99% of the time with one point in Fade for sticky situations.

5) With the traps, Blade skills can definitely be left at 0. Venom becomes optional, but if you have 1 point in Fade, then it is only one point extra to spend.

Here is the basic equipment layout. I tried to list high-end and alternatives. First is trap emphasis, followed by kicking emphasis in parentheses.

Weapon1 - Kingslayer Phase Blade (or Fleshripper) with Stormshield (Fade may be a good option if you can't get a Stormshield)
- For more kicking weapons, scroll half-way down the page. (Note: I think the attack speeds are slightly off)
Weapon2 - dual +3 traps claws with fast base speeds (talon or claw in the name)
Helm - Shako (Guilames for kicking)
Armor - Enigma is the best all-around (this is followed by Chains of Honor and Duress; Lionheart if you can't afford those)
Ammy - Maras is the best overall, use your imagination for secondary options
Rings - Ravenfrost + secondary; many people like mana leech on the secondary
Gloves - Draculs for lifetap in Hell - accept no exceptions
Belt - String or Verdungo's
Boots - Up'd Goreriders

You've convinced me of a couple of things.

1) I'm already going for Dragon Talon. I currently have lvl 6. Two kick is real cool. Do you recommend using the other charge up skills or do you just go for max spell and literally just use finishing moves.

2) I will do both with a set up like that. It is what I'm building towards.

Working my way on equipment now. I'll probably have a lot more questions later, but going the right direction.

1) With CB, Talon is all you will need.

Good luck with your build. There's almost always someone here if you have more quesitons. :)
