Vile Husk Tusk Sword and Poisonmancer

I just came across one of these and my budding lev 27 poisonmancer is not high enough yet to try to use it. It says it is sword class... any chance it can be used in conjunction with poison dagger skill? Thanks in advance.

But you will still receive the attack rating bonus from Poison Dagger. Some people consider it to be a bug but it's the only combat skill a Necromancer has to boost his attack rating. I highly recommend Giant Swords/Tusk Swords/Balrog Blades for necromancer if he chooses to use a two-handed sword because these weapons achieve the highest damage at the fastest speed for a necromancer (Check the Arreat Summit Normal Exceptional and Elite Swords Section). Also, a Balrog Blade on a warrior necromancer can do the same average damage as a Colossus Sword, a whopping 86.5 avg

The Vile Husk is not too bad of a weapon by itself but would be useful if you had IAS on it. I've never seen a more powerful weapon for hurting Undead, so that would give a Necromancer an edge in places like Tombs, Halls of the Dead. Flamebellow (Elite Balrog Blade), however, is the one you would eventually want if you want to lug around a mighty big dagger because the +3 Fire Skills orient it to either a Druid or Necromancer (Not a Sorceress because Sorceresses swing slower with Balrog Blades).

If you didn't put too many points on Poison Explosion or Poison Nova yet, you still have a chance to switch to the melee side. If I were you and chose to melee, I would put around 1-10 points in Dagger, 1 Explosion, 1 Nova. Set Primary attack to Poison Dagger, and when you reach a crowd, cast Poison Nova, then swing, then CE or PE.

Otherwise, stick to the traditional dagger and poison side.
