Video card fried?

So apparently my video card isn't working anymore/

It was a EVGA 8600 GTS company overclocked card.

How do I check if it burned out or whatever, and is there any way to fix it?

The easiest way is to switch it for another card and see. What are the symptoms?

Mine fried a few months ago too. One way i know to tell if its fried or not, is if the screen displays a bunch of random patterns, before it freezes/shuts off. It was basically graphic glitches, it leaves patterns or "checker-box" designs on the screen before it freezes, the screen shuts off, or it gives you the blue screen.

Im sure that didnt help in the least lol, i tried.

Do you get a blank screen or weird stuff on your screen? Is it weird from bootup or just once you get into Windows?

If your card is fried then it's very unlikely you can do anything about it other than replace. But your problem may not actually be the card dying, depends on what exactly the symptoms are.

Well it just stays black throughout startup, like my monitor stays in its power saving mode, acknowledging that theres something connected to it, but it doesnt display anything.

Best thing to try is to plug in an old video card and see if that works. See, it probably is your card but if your card died it's possible it ruined the slot as well, in which case you need a whole new motherboard. Happened to me a few months back.

Wait, your integrated card is fried? Ouch. That could mean two things:

1) Because it's integrated, it being fried isn't a problem, your port is still fine so just get a proper card.

2) Because it's integrated, it has taken your whole mobo with it.

I stay the hell away from integrated, so I'm not sure which.

Actually, is this a desktop or a laptop?
