Valkyrie question

Ok, I'm probably asking something daft again as usual, but I've recently played with my single play amazon and she's now level 30 and got herself a valkyrie.

I'm not all that familiar with it and read up on it on the Arreat Summit, where it says:

Sometimes Valkyries may have Immunities on higher difficulty. You may wish to recast Valkyrie until you get one.

How does that work then? How can I see that?

A Valk gets +2 res all for every point in Valk or Decoy, up to a limit of 85 res all

Valks also spawn with equipment, resist mods on the equipment can take the resistances to 100+, and so make her immune to certain elements

EDIT: you can't see her stats/resistances

Aye, I read that, but how can I see whether she's immune for anything at all? I don't know....

You can try two things. Search a monster with appropriate damage and see if it can damage her. A second thing you can try (yet this may very well be a rumour, so let us know how it turns it) is to use to unsummon skill. That way, you can 'namelock' your Valkyrie without unsummoning it offcourse, and this might show you the immunities. Remember, just a rumour, I haven't tried this myself.

You can also ignore all that and recast a valk each time she dies, so selection will do the job for you :smug:. A L1 valk will probably not reach 100% res, except she has a really lucky combination of +res items.

I doubt that a valk is of any use in PvP. They are awesome tanks (the maxed valk of my strafer usually survives hell Ancients, for example), but their attacks are usually weak, so they are most probably ignored, except by minions, but minions can be repositioned easily by teleporting.

Thank you! I don't do PvP, it's just plain single play and I figured the valkyrie wouldn't be very special being level 1, because it said so on the Arreat Summit. I just read that of those immunities and wondered how the blaze you can see that.

(the whole unsummon thing indeed doesn't work no)

If I recall correctly the color of armor the valkyrie spawns with gives a hint as to what element she's resisting more than others. Red for Fire, etc.

Mwuahaha - level one but half the time she walks about with a blue armour. Yay me.

Blue can be mana just as good. red can be life. Check out the stickies over at the amazon forum if you want to know more.
And don't forget that only the first colour adding mod ads colour. So she might very well spawn with something else you don't know of.

by the way, i usually leave it at lvl 1 or 2 and use +skill items to boost it.

The battlenet has always been buggered for me. Keeps kicking me out etc. Never works properly. And I have a lvl 82 (single play) sorceress who's got more ice than you can swallow.

How do you know that?

My strafer casts her valk at level 17 with one point in decoy. So, she only has 36% res. It would take several res items with good rolls for her to get an immunity at that level. So I tried the unsummon viewer on about 25 valks, and none of them appeared to have immunities, but I am casting at a low level. Can anyone with a high level valk try it?

Just tried it with my level 23 valkery with 8 hard points in decoy. and I couldn't find one with immunities, same goes for decoy btw.

Well, your valk should have 62% to all resists, so it would take two items getting resist mods (or one very good roll). How many times did you try it? It could easily take a few dozen tries.

With most minions, if you select the "unsummon" skill and hover over the minion, any immunities will be displayed, just like enemies display immunities under their names. Resistances are not shown.

I don't see why the valk would be any different, but she could.
