Using GoMule while diablo is still running

Hi guys,

Just something I've wondered about since I started using GoMule. Can I use it while diablo is running or will I loose items if I move them in GoMule and diablo is still running?

When playing or MFing and I get a full stash I always close down diablo before opening GoMule to stash away my items there... do I really need to do this or can I keep diablo running in the back ground while I do this?

When you log out of the game the gomule files update. If you pull things off the character you are using and stash them while the game is still running they will stay on your character and re appear when you log out. Essentially duplicating the items. Putting things on to your character while the game is running will have no effect in game and when GoMule updates on exit they will be lost.

If it's like ATMA, then it works like the guy above me said.

If you want to mule items off the character in the middle of an MF run, open your muling program while the character is still in the game, move the items to a mule, close the muling program, throw on the ground the items you muled off and don't interact with them again. This makes sure you have a copy of the items on a mule and you don't dupe them either. Now you can continue the MF run without worries. This is called "hotmuling". Just make sure you never move items onto a character while it's in the game, cause you will lose those items.

Don't have to close the program, it's enough to not be ingame. Looking at the menu is fine, looking at the character screen is fine (and actually practical since the characters won't move around according to which character you last saved in gomule), but being in a game you should mule off only, and as said, drop the items afterwards. I only use that method when finding Gheed's, since I can't have more than one on my char or in stash.

"Hotmuling" is described in the FAQ http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?836912-The-D2-SPF-FAQ-2013

As mentioned in the FAQ, if you do choose to hotmule (most commonly for Gheeds, as helvete mentioned) it needs to be declared in your trade profile.

I usually just go to the menu screen and alt-tab from there.
