"users currently viewing this thread" question

i didnt see a post about this, but i was just wondering if anyone can answer for me whether or not that part of the thread view page was supposed to be removed after that day long rennovation or whatever it is, or if its supposed to be there and needs to be replaced

i think it ("users currently...") was somehow slowing the forums so they removed it...
wish they'd get it back though...it was a cute feature...

actually now that he mentions it -
I dont see it at the bottom of the thread anymore, where/like it used to be
what happened to it?

I noticed the change, but don't really know why it was done - probably performance reasons.

I suppose it was quite helpful in the trade, giveaway and MP threads. It was also pretty useful to me when I was watching over some of the more heated threads, but oh well - c'est la vie :)

well i have noticed the pages load faster on my dial up now, but i cant say wheather that was because of the of the viewing users part or another change they made.

I think it is because of this because it will send fewer requests to the SQL as it is now without the "users currently viewing this thread". I agree though, that was a nice feature :(

Yeah, it is a shame that they took it away, it was amusing when the 'Vex' thread was at it's hotest "19 People vieing this thread. 12 Members and 7 Guests". People from the 'Other Place' checking out the flames at the SPF ;)
