    Use for Standards of Heroes????

There is a person at RPG Traders listing a Standard of Heroes for trade claiming that the SoH prevents experience loss when you die.

Does anyone have information that this is true or is it just a scam?

Scam. It does one and only one thing - take up space.

Thanks guys. I'm not trusting rumors, only researching something that I may not be aware of. Since it is posted on a trusted site, I'll report this guy to RPG admin.

There needs to be a use for it though. Otherwise, why even have the thing? I mean, yay, it says I took on the ubers, but that's what the torch is for..

Unless its just a parting gift for the ones that didn't get the torch. But then why have it be level 90?

No, there has to be something this thing does. Even if it just hasn't been implemented.

Currently there is no use for the SoH.

Rumor has it that it's use will be revealed as part of the Burning Crusade Expansion.

Burning Crusade has no bearing on DII, what would be the point of that? WoW and DII are completely different games.

My thought on what the SOH will be is an item that scales as you play the game. Maybe the mods will be hidden, maybe you'll be able to see them, I'm not sure on the particulars, but it would make sense to have an item like this. However, then they'd have to limit the amount to only one or you'd have way overpowered characters, depending on the stats they decided to give the SOH's.

It would be nice if they revealed what their intent on having the SOH was.

Well, I know burning crusade has nada to do with D2, but maybe there's a companion event or something..A new patch perhaps.

I just think there's GOTTA be something this thing is meant to do.

My zealot wears one in his inventory, not caring about the space it needs and that it doesn't seem to have an advantage. Perhaps it has some hidden bonus. If it does, he benefits from it

    However, think of this:
SOH is to ubers, what an ear is to dueling. Perhaps nothing more, nothing less. A trophy of sorts.

This has been discussed to death, and there's still only three possibilities:

    1. It does nothing. Never has, never will. (the name implies this, although the level 90 req is odd)
    2. It currently does something. (thousands of people have been trying things with it for over a year. Then again, no one found any of the 23 runewords despite concentrated efforts.)
    3. It does nothing now, but will in the future. (possible, especially after everyone's obsession with it. Sounds like something Blizz would do, nothing to do but wait in this case.)

Now go insult people with level 1 mules :wink2:

My highest character post v1.09 is a lvl 90 javazon by the name of Useless_Mule.

Regarding the trade link in the original post, it has been deleted and the poster has received a warning for making false claims.
