    Upping the Gidbinn

What happens if you up a Gidbinn? What do you get?

Can you socket a Gidbinn? What are the max number of sockets?

Its such an odd unique - it has no mods and no label that identifies the weapon type.

I'd immagine so. You can upgrade Khalim's weapons and Wirt's leg (which I believe turns into a hand axe), so I don't know why this would be any different.

The gibinn is classed as a dagger, it does 3-7 damage, has a weapon speed of -20, 30 durability, if it could be bought from shop (or sold and bought back), it would cost you exactly 666 gold, cannot be socketed, cannot be upgraded and cannot be personalised. Thats about all the interesting / relevent stuff.

FB,what's your source of info that the Gidnbinn can't upgraded? Did you try it yourself?

I wonder why Wirt's leg can be upgraded, but not the Gidbinn.

Can the Horadric Malus be upgraded? Or Khalim's Flail or Will? Can Khalim's be socketed?

Can you make an Iron Golem out of anyone of these? What could be more ridiculous than a Gidbinn Golem?

I used the diablo 2 mpq files, so its pretty reliable. And wirts leg is different to gidbinn. Wirts leg is not a quest item, and is normal quality, and gidbinn is unique.
Khalims flail cannot be socketed, neither can his will.
The malus cannot be socketed or upgraded.
Oh, and it is possible that if you try iupgrading these items, it goes to a hand axe as well, since a hand axe is the first item in the list of exceptional unquies, so like the leg, it may default to that one.
And i presume you can make a golem with them, no reason to suggest you cant.

Yes, as you can see it loses its 1337ness, and jsut because an ordinary low damage axe. Incidently, i dont have a upped leg, i did make 1 to try and see if it worked, but alas, it did not. I also have the runes for 'malice' in a leg, that was from when i was first starting out and ignorant of the legs special properties.

What if u use an upped leg for opening a cow level?

I don't think it's gonna work but presume it does, maybe the cows are the also "upped" and drop uber stuff!

And even with 8 superb hammerdins with their aura's synchronised ppl had to fight for their steak!

Imagine those cookie cutters complaining :D

If only that worked, but no, if you up a leg, you cannot use it to open the cow portal.

So if you up a Wirt's leg using the Cube and runes for upgrading a normal unique item to an exceptional unique item, you get a simple Hand Axe? Which is a normal item!

Presumably you could then imbue the hand axe and upgrade the rare hand axe to an exceptional rare hatchet and the rare hatchet to an elite rare tomahawk.

So, in principle, the Wirt's leg is an item you could triple-up!

Well, you have to imbue the Leg to upgrade it, and then it'll keep its mods... but yes, it can be upgraded three times with a whopping total of +17 to its eventual level requirement!

I think diabloii.net's next April 1 Fact of the Day is revealed. :D

Okay, so this seems to be possible:

    1. Imbue Wirt's leg making it rare.
    2. Use the runes for upgrading normal rares to exceptional, and thereby get a rare hand axe.
    3. Repeat step #2 and convert the rare handaxe into a rare exceptional hatchet
    4. Use the runes to upgrade exceptional items into elites to convert the rare hatchet to a rare (elite) tomahawk.
    5. Put the Rare Tomahawk and a Gidbinn dagger into the Horadric Cube and transmute them into a throwing axe. (The formula is for any axe and a dagger.)

I don't know why one would do this, but at least its nice to know
    what can be done.
