how much dmg wll i gain on 190 non eth, and will it become a ghost spear? will it effect the ias break points for a2 mercs also?

Yes, it'll become a Ghost Spear

Once upgraded, it's damage will be about 72-489.

I can't answer your question about the IAS though, so I'll leave it to someone else

The way I have understood, a Hone Sundan loose "all" value if you upgrade it. It is defenitively not worth the Pul+Lum cost. This since the (especially eth) Hone Sundan is one of the best leveling merc weapons out there, but is not anywhere near the top choice for late/end game.

Upped Eth Hone Sundan is definitely a viable endgame weapon. With WSM 0 and 3 sockets, you can make it insanely fast (3xshael=60%ias) and it has a crazy 45% CB which is quite awsome when you're doing 8pl solo boss runs (esp Baal). Another option is Obedience which doesn't have ias, or Infinity, which is very expensive.

Also a good levling weapon .

I stand corrected then, was quoting another tread I read a while back
I still dont think it is anywhere near worth the Pul (and Lum) cost to up a non-eth Hone Sundan though.

Ppping exceptional uniques to elite uniques is ladder (and single player) only. The others can be done anywhere.

I was considering upping an eth hone for my ww barb. It has massive cb, a range of 5 and can hit the last ww break with 3 shaels. I was thinking about it since blizz wasn't considerate enough to make even 1 spear specific rune word!

I upped a hone sundan for my necro summoner's merc and socketed with with 2xshaels 1xamn.

1) The crushing blow cut my Baal kill time by a good number of minutes.

2) He kills everything else faster for me to get corpses.

3) It doesn't have any procs to overwrite curses.

The biggest downside I noticed to upping it was that it has a very high dex requirement, so unless your merc has + dex gear I think he has to lvl well into the 80's to use it... but my merc gets +dex from his helmet.

cb...lets see hone(45) + Guillaume's Face(35) + gore rider = 95% crushing blow...thatll really cut the killing time down a lot, and its not like any of those are too tough to find...
