    Boneflesh Unique Plate Mail

    Defense: 234-257 (varies)(Base Defense: 108-116)
    Required Level: 26
    Required Strength: 65
    Durability: 60
    +100-120% Enhanced Defense (varies)
    5% Life Stolen Per Hit
    25% Chance Of Open Wounds
    +35 To Attack Rating

Upgraded to Templar Coat its requirments to wear should be the same as Guardian Angel but the defence will be lower.

    Defense: 770-825 (varies)(Base Defense: 252-274)
    Required Level: 45
    Required Strength: 118
    Durability: 60
    +180-200% Enhanced Defense(varies)

I guess the reason you are upgrading is to increase the defence :D so beware that the base defence will be re-rolled using the Templar Coat (252 - 274) range of values. The minimum and maximum you could ever get for this upgrade is

    252 * (1 + 100%) = 504

    274 * (1 +120%) = 602.

Exact values depend on your % ED.

I have considered doing this cheap upgrade for a middle ranking Merc but the strength requirement is a bit high unless you have a helmet that boosts your mercs Str.

    Hope that helps :)

Well pardon me for reading that wrong, anyway the formula is :

norm ->excep = +5 to excep versions lvl req
excep->elite = +7 to elite versions req lvl

    -see the req's on d2data.net

Boneflesh is a nice armor to upgrade to exceptional, I did so back in 1.10 beta single player for my Barb, and again in 1.10 on my merc, its worth the upgrade if you haven't found a good Skin of the Flayed One (an ethereal one of those would be awesome, they have self-repair), though Skin doesn't have the all important open wounds. One of my mercs use Boneflesh Templar and def is around the minimum possible (101% Enhanced Def) but its still over 500 IIRC.
