    Up'd Magi or Normal Magi?

Why do pvp sorcs prefer upd magi over norm magi?

why would you up the magi for higher defence while you're a sorc? maybe because of chilling armor boost? just wondering, if it helps energy shield or something?

since normal magi has lower requirements, so why need up'd?

Just wondering, if experts could explain why, I would love to listen :D

Upped Skin of the Vipermagi will simply grant you more defense, nothing else. Still it popular to upgrade, since with either Defiance Merc or one of the cold armors you can reach a very high defense which again means that you get hit less. This counts both for PvP and PvM.

In addition to high life or blocking and high enough FHR for a nice breakpoint, this is just another little ounce that pushes your survivability up.

Just look that you keep on Vipermagi not upped so that you have soemthing for leveling.

When going for vitality most will choose a spirit shield. So str req is not a problem and the upped magi even with max block, does not have that high str req. Just dump the extra str points as hard points into stats and compensat for the lost life with small life scs.

The base defense of Vipermagi is 127, when upped to Wyrmhide, the base is 364-470. With a good roll of 455+ base def, the upped Vipermagi can get 1k+ defense, so the def difference is really huge. Also as said above, the requirement of upped Vipermagi is still quite acceptable for most builds.
