    Unsocketing items

Not sure if this is possible, but is it possible to unsocket items? I have a shako that has been socketed and a worthless jewel stuck in it. I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the socket and jewel.

Yes there is a way to remove unwanted item from the socket. Put your Harle into cube, add Hel rune and a tp scroll, and click transmute. Poof! The jewel will be gone for good, but Harle will have a clean socket now, enabling you to put something more useful into it.

and just so you know, there's no way to get rid of the actual socket once it's there. so if you ever have an item that needs a specific number of sockets for a runeword, you'll only get one chance at it with the cube.

If you unsocket something, the original item used is lost forever as far as I'm aware.

When using the hel tp scroll and socketed item in the cube you get just the item with empty sockets.

You will lose the rune/gem/jewel that was socketed in the item.

It's a question of pure logic. If you would get your runes/jewels back, everybody and their dogs would have perfect % runewords...

Some items would be too big to work that way also. You'd need a 14 space cube.
