Welcome to WinXP, it loves to do this to D2 for some odd reason, especially if you use Home Edition. Some things you can try:

    1. Run D2 in Win98 compatability mode.

    2. Completely reinstall to a different directory. C:/Program Files/ is where it is supposed to go if it isn't all ready.

    3. Clean up your C Drive and Defrag.

    4. Oh yeah, and XP is full of bugs, so make sure you have all the latest patches from MS. You can always check your drivers too.

No kidding. You're not supposed to defrag unless a computer scan tells you it should be done.

    Maybe it's all the pr0n ... :surprise:

If you've isolated the problem to the LoD install, check the cd for possible scratches.

I get the 'unhandled exception' error if I try to copy/paste a game name via CTRL-C/CTRL-V.

I went through this for a month. Blizzard was truly helpful, but my efforts were for naught. Only difference was my error was line 589.

    C:\format, fixed it for me.

    Win2k, btw.
