Ya'll know it's coming.

Blizzard's going to turn those funny little imps you think are so cute into monstrous bloodthirsty demonlords at some point in the game.

From the new lore update:
As hard as it is to believe, the fallen ones were once exalted demons of the Burning Hells. They served as Azmodan's hands, performing acts that he would not, could not involve himself in. They were the instrument of Azmodan's first failed attempt to usurp power from Diablo and his brothers, and after that failure, the fallen were subjected to the full wrath of Diablo. They were twisted into small, ridiculous imps, in contrast to their previously powerful forms...

I suspect the existence of at least two other types of fallen, but I will need to conduct further research before I reveal my theories as to the ultimate familial structure of these fiends.

Foreshadowing doesn't get much thicker than that. Who else is betting that at some point in the game Azmodan's going to sweep in and revert a mass of little fallen imps into huge elite demon generals. :evil:

I can't wait. Maybe they'll do it as one of those background dungeon cutscenes like with the cultists. Or even in one of the inter-Act cinematics. If we get to fight Azmodan in Act I, Reawakened Fallen are definitely going to be his guards.

It's great when the enemies in a game tie into the storyline or lore somehow.

Who knows, though the "at least two other types of fallen" could be a reference to carvers, devil kin dark ones, flayed ones and the like.

no no, they are fallen :) carvers, devil kin, dark ones are all just like different race of mankind :p

I called this in the bestiary update: the fallen thread. I fully expect this to happen to and its going to be frieken awesome

I wanna see Rakanishu and Bishibosh (or however you spell them) done this way. It would be epic. I really like the whole idea you have here, you make a good point. Fighting a bunch of uber Fallens would be too awesome for words.
