Uber Smite Advice

Hi I just started playing after 7 yrs and seems like a lot has changed. I'm on US East ladder. After some good MF runs, I'm ready to build a smiter. I have limited high level runes so I want to make sure I use them right. This is my plan please let me know if it will work.

1. Weapon - Grief (phase blade) - I can't afford Last Wish and I hear both are about just as good.
2. Armor - Most like Treachery. (I have a Ber for COH, but am saving if for enigma for my hammerdin waiting to find a Jah)
3. Shield - Will build exile. Still looking for good 4 socket pally shield with high base resists.

4. Helm - I heard Guillaume's Face works well. Also have andriel's visage with ral. Can also use Shako
5. Gloves - laying of hands or Dracul's Grasp
6. Ammy - highlords.
7. Shoes - Gore Riders.


Please let me know what you think about this. Most interested in the opinion on weapon armor and shield. Like I said I have very limited high runes and would like to use them wisely. Thanks.

I see that you got most your gear. Here would be some folling gears that will benefit you:
armor- lionhard or smoke
shield- exile st or upped hoz or p diamonded sacred targe with good resist
ammy- swap to maras since you already have max ias with grief pb

Good luck with your smiter. I know you can do ubers this season. I got faith in you.

Your gear looks good for soloing übers. Helm: Guillaumes (you need 50% CB, the other 15% come from Goreriders), gloves: Dracul's (to keep up lifetap after you started it with a lifetap wand, being worn on the weapon switch). Shield: HoZ is good enough. Rings: Ravenfrost + dual leech (3% mana leech are enough). Don't use Mara's, but get a few allres GCs for excess resists, only to be worn versus Über Meph. Don't use any skillers, they are useless for a melee paladin.

For organs and hell Baal (all solo as well), I recommend Enigma, that will save a lot of time. Have a Wizardspike and a Spirit paladin shield. Any amount of FCR and res on the shield is OK, you only have to reach the 75% breakpoint and Wizzy adds 75% res anyway (plus lots of mana for teleporting).

BTW, make a fana-zealot with 1 point in smite (it's a holy shield req anyway). You only need smite for hitting all the time while the damage comes from Grief (its +dmg adds to smite damage). Smite sucks versus crowds. Use zeal versus everything else, except hell Baal who will be killed by smite as well - an easy target for your paladin.
