    Truthiness meets No-Spin

Oh, this should be good. Kind of like Stewart on Crossfire...does O'Reilly know he may be way outmatched here?

Colbert is one of the best interviewers I've ever seen. If anyone comes out looking like an assclown, it'll be the big O.

Put Colbert up against Ollie North. Ollie ran circles around Congress with ease. Against Colbert, no contest. Or put Colbert up against Walter Williams. Or Tony Snow. Or Mike Medved. No contest, Colbert is out of his league.

Am I the only one thinking about the catastrophe that was the White House press banquet? Colbert isn't really all that funny when he is out of his element, that being the realm of Comedy Central. O'Reilly will take it seriously, and tear Colbert a new one.

That's the point. Colbert is a comedian. He's doing it well enough to stay on TV so he must be doing something right. But put him up against somebody smarter than him who has been around the block before with smarter people and he'll get eaten alive.

O'Reilly on the other hand can have funny men write the jokes. He's experienced enough to be able to deliver albiet not as well as Colbert. He'd suck, but survive. Colbert doesn't have a chance.

It's a simple matter of what you're good at. It's not a failing, it's why we have the jobs we do. You don't ask a plumber to pull teeth any more than you ask a dog groomer to build a laser.

Depends on your point of view. I saw that as possibly one of the funniest, most scathing roasts ever...he was SO above his audience, they didn't see it coming, and never knew what hit them...

This may just be me, but not getting any response from the crowd seems to me like you either did a bad routine, or performed it to the wrong people. He did the latter. Or the fact that the jokes about the president and his staff (Read, them) were not that appealing to the press corps. I watched most of that roast, in pain, and attempted to forget it afterwards.

I thought the Press Conference was reasonably funny. The audience didn't react because they were the target of the jokes, duh. Some parts were not so funny, but then again most American TV comedy has the same problem if not worse.

As for O'Rielly's chances, without the ability to cut the mike he's a goner.

We don't get the Colbert Report here, but it looks fairly lame. I never really liked him or any of the reporters on the Daily Show apart from John Stewart. Anyway, we did that already over here with a bit called the Firth Factor in a show called CNNNNN.

Who cares if the live audience likes it if you like it? How does the audience's opinion change yours? I don't get it.

FOX has a recording...and Colbert is unreal...wow. I am so impressed.

Can't wait for the Colbert report tonight.

All I can say is - Bill has nothing on this guy. Sure, I am biased...but seriously....wow.

I call it a push. I think Colbert looked much better on O'reiley's show, but tried too hard to 'suck up' and play his conservative character on his show, which he had to do. Bill was good on the Colbert Report.

So the guest came out on top in my opinion, in both cases.
