True Life: I'm a Fire Claw Druid
I started playing D2 again after a 4-5 year hiatus. I've only been playing for roughly a month. The game has always been fun, but I always ran into the same old problems about finding a build that I liked and was "strong" a the same time.
This thread is really nothing too special. Just a casual players testimonial to the awesomeness of the FC druid build.
After reading Jayson's FC druid guide I ventured out and started collecting gear. One thing that I like about FC druids is that the gear used isn't ridiculously expensive. Some things may be a bit pricey if you go for the gusto, but most items are easy to obtain through pgems, mid runes, heck even pawning off lowbie gear.
I started with nothing but a untwinked Ranger who couldn't survive HELL to a FC druid that needs Blizzard to create Extreme Hell mode because he whomps on HELL difficulty.
However... Even on low end gear ( I was using a vipermagi before lvl 85) I was still doing very well solo in 8 player Hell games. I think this is what I love about being a FC druid. The fact that the gear reuqired isn't impossible to get for a casual player and the fact (this is the big one) that FC druids are extremely effective in PVP and PVE while using the same gear set.
Although most will tell you to start off with a Blizzard sorc or a Hammerdin when just starting the game, I'm proof that FC druids can also bring in the wealth. I had pretty much nothing but lowbie gear and pgems when I started my char and now I'm not rich, but I'm not doing too bad either .
Jary and I had some fun running keys with our bears last night. Great fun and pretty much my fav build in D2 so far. Right up there with my old throwin barb!
Last but not least Jayson's guide for those who haven't seen it or are just interested in a more complete look at this build. Even though tailored for PVP it rocks PVE aswell  .
